Hello all

I just ordered my 315-70-17's (BFG AT KO2) to be mounted on my stock JLUR rims tomorrow. A few questions that I'm sure have been answered before, but I figured I would ask to be sure.

- just to reconfirm, I shouldn't need a lift/ spacers unless I'm planning on some heavy off-roading
- These will fit my standard rubi wheels
- I will not need a relocation bracket for the spare
- I will require a re-calibration of the speedometer done at the dealer or with an aftermarket recalibration n device

All of those statements are correct. Actually your Jeep will drive just fine without speedometer recalibration, but the speed displayed will be slightly inaccurate.

Many have done it.
Some tire shops will tell you the rim is too narrow. The tire will bulge a bit and you should run the tires at 30lbs or less pressure to get the full tire width to contact the road. I had the dealer install the exact same tires at delivery. They had the tires at 42lbs of pressure and the spare wouldn't fit. I changed it to 29lbs and they fit with the spare slightly touched the rear bumper. There was no rubbing at all with just street driving. I had some rubbing with the sway bars disconnected.
Your speedo will be off about 5 mph. The dealer will do it for about $115. I got an aftermarket calibrator. Some guys use the Tazer mini, I used a Superchips for the ease of using. I have since gotten a Mopar lift and going to 37s. My 315s on stock rims will be up for sale this weekend.

With out speedo re cal and bigger tires your odometer will not be accurate and increase the amount it is off as the mileage increases. If you have an auto trans, shift points may eventually adapt and it may or may not ever shift into 8th gear, and it may effect traction control, brake lock diff function and ABS function as the computer will not accurately know how fast you are really going. If you have the collision assist crash baloney is it going to brake enough of too much because it thinks you are going faster or slower than your actual speed?

I think the 315 size tire states the min rim width is 8" and the Rubicon rims are 7.5" ?
Some tire shops may tell you they won't mount them. Likely you'll find someone who will. As far as if its recommended or dangerous.........I won't say. I will say you'll likely never get caught and arrested for removing your mattress tag though.

As Uhdinator stated, it would be best to re-calibrate for the auto transmission shift at the correct speeds.

Without the re-calibrate, when your speedometer shows 65, you'll actually be going a little over 68 MPH. So just keep that in mind until you do get it re-calibrated.

Remember this option when considering your recalibration: AEV ProCal SNAP. I've been looking at their suspension package, and it comes with their calibration tool. It's less expensive than the other tools, if tire size is the only thing you need it for.

Seriously considering getting the AEV Procal Snap. Do you know anyone who have used this tool to re-calibrate for tires?
