There's mpg, there's handling at highway speeds on pavement, there's tire integrity under heavy loads (remember the Firestone/Ford Explorer issues from many years ago).

Yes, agreed. I drive this much more carefully than a sports car. Mostly comes down to personal responsibility for things like check your tires, oil etc…and it’s not a sports car. :)

We should keep in mind that when the manufacturer (especially Stellantis) slaps their "recommended" tire pressure on the door jamb, they dont give a crap about ride comfort, noise, wear, even our safety. All they care about is to gain some marginal fuel economy wherever they can to meet the Big Brother EPA requirements and pay less penalties per each vehicle made, which comes to a pretty big number after millions of vehicles sold.
Here's my story. I bought my '21 2 door 6 speed Rubi used, with 25k mi and original KO2 tires. First couple of days driving it around I was pleasantly surprised how comfortable and quiet the ride was. With hard top with headliner and windows closed I couldn't believe I'm driving a jeep.
Well, this was until the first rainy day that scared a shit out of me. I was spinning tires from the stop and fishtailing all over the place. Turned out my tires were inflated to the "recommended" 37psi cold, which made them at 39-40 hot. Also looking closely at the tires, they were worn noticeably more at the center. Meaning the previous owner was following the door jamb "recommedation".
I did a chalk test and ended up with 32 cold. And "miraculously", driving in rain became much better, even though the thread wear was already screwed.
That's probably why the KO2s have a reputation of sucking in the rain. Because they are the stock tires and most people are following the damn manufacturers "recommendations".
Sorry for the long post. I just wanted to share my first hand experience and thoughts.
So, when one is unsure what tire pressure to run, do the "magic" chalk test! It's free, quick, and so easy even a caveman can do it.

Because of this thread I just lowered my stock Rubicon KO2s to 32 psi from 38-39. The improvement is incredible, ride is so much better! It is like night and day different and I don’t get as much of the horrible thrumming I was getting at 65 anymore. It’s there but 95 percent less.

I kept thinking I should lower my pressures but just never got around to it. lol.

Since taking delivery back in October 2022 (when my dealer left the tires at 42 (cold)! lmao), I drop mine to 32-33 (cold) during the Summer, they deflate further to below 30 in the Winter, sometimes triggering the "low PSI" warning that I'll leave active to remind me to air them up to 37 the following Summer, running them for a few minutes to clear the warning, then deflating them back to 32-33

My dealer messes that up by filling them to 37 when I take the Jeep in for service, which promptly increases to 40ish during warm months...resulting in repeating the above process all over again lol

I've never had to do this shit with any other vehicle I've owned 🤣

2 door, 4 door, 255's, 285's, 315's.............they seem to all have the same PSI recommended on the door sticker. The rating is based on max cargo capacity. I don't have anything in the 2 dr but me most of the time so yeah it's too much. My 2 dr F250 Truck is 60 psi and empty with HD plow springs and HD tow springs is horrible. I have to run the recommendation when the plow is on and counter weight in the truck bed............air down a bit in the summer.
