I am running Toyo 285/75 17 load C (essentially 34's) on my Willy's. The Willy's is running Rubi springs and Daystar 3/4 inch spacers all around.

Normally, I keep the Toyo's around 38 - 39 psi for all around driving. Max psi is 50, however 45, what they were initially filled to felt to firm, 32 was too soft and 38/39 felt the best.

On my last visit to Moab (4Runner) I only ran the easy stuff and did not air down, no damage was done to the 4Runner or tires. This year I'm going back and plan to run some of the easy to moderate trails (no rock crawling), and that begs the question, Air down and if so to what pressure?

Thanks

Yes, air down. It's much safer.

Anywhere between 15-18 psi will do well.

I air down frequently, just for comfort, even when it’s not necessary. A lot of times for moderate trails I will do an intermediate pressure like 20-22. Which is soft enough to give an improvement in ride on rock and dirt, but still safe (in my own opinion) at moderate road speeds. I may stay that way for many days if I’m just wandering in and out of a destination area like Moab. I’ll air up again when I’m going to hit speed over 55 or long stretches of asphalt.

That's exactly what I do, as well.

Air down to 7-8 psi and then only go up to about 20-22 to go back to camp. I don't air up fully until it's time to drive for a long time or like you said, 55+ mph.

Last trip to Death Valley I didn’t air down on an easy 8 mile dirt road. The washboard was so bad my teeth almost rattled out of my mouth. I aired down once we got to camp and the rest of the trip was much more enjoyable. I usually go down to about 15 psi.
