Hi,

My JLU sport has a 17x9 33" on spare... some people told me I need to get a better tire carrier so my back door wont bend but some said no need since its only 33". any suggestions?

I wouldn’t worry too much about it. Wait until you get bigger tires or want to carry extra fuel or high lift.

Plenty of people run 35’s on the stock set up. Some even 37’s.

They are telling you that you need an upgraded carrier to carry a stock tire?

I carried a 37 on mine for over 7 months and no damage. I put on the evo carrier recently because of the rattling of the tailgate while wheeling. Over a long period of time, you might see some wear on gate, maybe not, they’re pretty stout. I ran a 35 on before switched to 37 so I’ve had at least a 35 on mine for right at a year.

is it the same with the sport? I’m sorry. Really new to this.
I think the tire carrier on rubicon is a bit bigger, but it’s the tailgate that’s carrying the weight and they’re the same on all models.

Stock Rubicon wheels/tires weigh 75 lbs. I weighed mine when I swapped out for my new wheels and tires which are 95 lbs.
