Hello,

I was in a bind and had to lease my newest jeep, it is a 2018 JL Sport Unlimited with the 4 cylinder turbo engine..It’s a daily driver with no real off roading but it does see a lot of use on dirt roads camping and hiking up north etc...

Unfortunately it has 245/75R17 sized tires. I’d like to get a more aggressive mud terrain tread and bigger tire with as minimal impact on the acceleration, ride, and gas mileage I have now. I was thinking 255/75/R17 but would 285/70/R17 work without any issues?

Thanks for any recommendations/feedback everyone

Look for a set of Rubicon take offs. They won't kill your mpg but will give you the more aggressive look and better performance. I paid $1200 for mine to include TPMS.
2018-2019 Rubicon stock tires are 285/70/R17 I believe? Without any mods or lift would these run fine? Thanks

I've been considering these for my 2019 JL Sport S Unlimited. LT265/70-17 BFG KO2's Load Range C. The're just 2/10 taller than stock so no negative MPG or performance impacts, a full 1" wider better looking and handling on the trail, load range C can be run at stock air pressure (36 psi) will drive conformably on the pavement.

This, and no lift required

265/70-17’s are the right answer. Last thing I want to worry about is rub when I’m crashing over rocks n shtuff. Plus this size is very popular...I’ll prob head down to Wallyworld to see what they have when it’s time

I can vouch for rubi take offs. I put them on my Sahara right away and I love them. They do ride a LITTLE more truck like vs the stock setup but they look awesome. I drive a lot for work and I’m constantly at highway speeds no issues at all. Only thing to consider is winter. They’re technically winter rated but for on-road driving, they won’t perform nearly as well as dedicated winter tires on your factory wheels.

285/70/17 fit a sport nicely.
I went with Pathfinder ATs from Discount Tire Direct, they were $148, but only SL, But I don't need C rated tires to drive where I drive, sandy trails, dirt trails, grass, and pavement
Sister Company of Hankook, never been disappointed with Hankooks, so I went for it..we will see.
Couldn't find Ko2 take offs in my area.

OP, there is a forum here for Tires/wheels. Scan through that and I think that you will get lots of ideas, question answered, etc. you will also see a ton of pictures with your Jeep model and the tire/wheel mods that folks have done to theirs. Some lift, some don’t ..... very inspiring.

Yes those are nice, think I’m leaning towards same size, the 265/70/R/17. I’m probably gonna get an aggressive looking A/T though
