Ted, that is really good MPG for a gasser. I never really checked my diesel with stock gears and 37’s. But I think you have me beat.

This is an overall life average so far. 2021 2 Door Rubicon 3.6L Manual, base model on mud tires (so light weight). I would say half of that is interstate driving, bought it in fly over country and it stays in Florida now.

I've had the top and doors on for the entire Trip B measuring period. I reset it the last time I bought gas, and it represents two days of my daily commute plus one day off having fun:

This was reading 20.5 overall and 23.4 for the trip until I went wheeling today. The trip up to the start of my loop involves seven miles in 2nd gear at 2500 to 3000 RPM. It's just too steep for 3rd, but there is no point crawling up the hill. (This is why having more gears with close ratios is a good thing, and the 8-speed automatic probably has an edge here.) I drove another five or so miles before I threw it in 4 low, and left it in 4 low for the duration of my excursion. It's not worth the drama of shifting in and out of 4 low, so I leave it there and just use 1st through 3rd.

I thought I was kind of being an overly cautious slow ass when a built overland rig flew by me at the spot where I stop to air down and disconnect the sway bars. I figured that guy was 20 miles ahead of me and long gone. About halfway through the first leg of the trail, that guy was taking a bypass around a trivial mud hole, and I ripped through it full blast, and left him in my dust. I felt vindicated! I may drive like Grandpa, but that FJ Cruiser or Land Rover or whatever it was could never catch me in a million years!

Seriously though, a guy in a bone stock F150 ended up parking right behind me at the top of my climactic achievement, and I realized that I should have just put mud tires on my F150 instead of spending $60,000 building a stupidly overbuilt Jeep that I have to make payments on for the next 32 years. Well, we may have gotten to the same place, but I looked better doing it, damn it! 😎

My wife and I recently finished a round trip from Orlando to Ouray. About 4,100 miles.

Completely stock JLURD. For the trip we finished with just over 27MPG. And that included all the off-roading we did while in the Ouray area. (Engineer/Cinnamon, Black Bear/Imogene, etc).

Phenomenally impressed with the Diesel and the JL in general. No way I could have handled a 4,000 mile road trip in my TJ.

I switched to the other tab and had this for mpg for the last 1500+ miles. This include three wheeling trips with about 800 miles of pulling my camper.

LOL, The Kens decal on the pole was placed there by me at the bottom of the picture.

I was at Kens on Saturday.

I put a Kens decal on the Ophir Pass sign also and if you make it to the Rubicon Trail Lake Tahoe side, I placed a sticker on the metal box in the parking lot.

Kens is probably the best place in Michigan to get Jeep work done.

I have seen an indicated 29 MPG on mine on the highway at 70-75MPH from Denver to Co Springs, or to Rocky Mountain National Park and back. Which in reality is more like 27 hand calculated, but still.

I track every fill-up so my lifetime average is in my signature.

JLU-Sport S, 2.0T, bone stock for now.

This was my last trip. Mostly under 65 mph on 2 lane roads.

3.6 auto, 37s (Patagonia mt) and 5.13 gears. Interestingly I couldn’t even get close to that with stock gears.

Here’s me setup.
ps, normally it’s slightly under 20, and if it’s all 75+ Mph.......forget about it!

2018 JLU Sahara, January build.
3.6 Liter, 8 speed auto
3.45 gears, with limited slip diff
275/65R18 Pirelli Scorpion AT+. Still 32" diameter but wider than stock 255s. They grip much better than the factory tires too!
ESS hasn't worked in months but I am still managing over 20 per the computer. Early on with manual calculations I found the computer is reasonably accurate to within a half MPG so I give it a +/- .2 MPG margin of error.
