An interesting data point is you have metal bumpers and I have plastic bumpers and still have the same issue. You removed the front fender liners, correct?
The fender liners were only removed for a day, or two while I was installing LED headlights.

Exact same thing. Thought I was nuts. 2020 Rubicon Unlimited, 2.0l, 3000 miles and completely stock. The thrumming comes on at 63mph, lightens up around 68mph, then back in full force until 75mph. After 75 it seems fine, but in the 63 to 74 its damn annoying. You can feel the vibration in your seat as well.
As stated to your fellow forum members, should you visit your dealer, please feel free to send us a PM.

I also have this problem with my 2020 JLUR except mine seems to do it from 60 mph all the way to 70 mph. So disappointing, i have wanted a new four door Rubicon for a while. Actually i have wanted a Rubicon since 2003! I have not had time to go to the dealer yet and i already know they'll just tell me they can't hear it anyway. I have read probably everything about this problem and i'm sure eventually they will figure it out. Oh by the way i have the 3.6 liter with a hard top and is totally stock.

I'm really convinced it's something plastic.

I've stated this before, but just in case, mine has pretty much stopped doing this since the weather has gone cold.
Sometimes I'll feel it very very faintly, but for the most part, it's gone since the temps have dropped below freezing.

Maybe the fenders are stiffer so they don't humm. The Rubicons are the only ones with higher fenders. Could make sense that they vibrate a bit more. I guess my next test is spring!

I wouldn't be surprised. One time I went on a roadtrip and planned to do it with a car club, so I covered the front of my car in painters tape like the rest of them were. Bad idea. I didn't do it right, so it made a horrible rumbling sound as soon as I hit the freeway! Got off asap and ripped it all off. Everything was back to normal.

To your point, the aerodynamics of a new vehicle is tested in a wind tunnel. I don't think they tested the Rubicon and more likely was a sport or a sahara. The only difference being the front fenders being higher, it would make sense that they buzz and would never have been found.

Has anyone in europe reported the problem? Their Rubicons have the regular fenders...

Hey there JeepCares,
Can't you just contact Jeep for all of us instead of having us all contact you when we go to a dealer as many have already with no fix. The head mechanic rode with me and felt it but has no answer. Whats the point if nothing is being done to correct it. How can you actually help us out with this and do you have contact with corporate on this or any other matter like the wandering steering and vibration issues? Apparently there are 2 major issues and you are saying to bring the jeep to a dealer and also contact you so you can call them which I don't see how this has helped. Any other ideas form you to get this looked into further?
Not trying to be a pain, I am new to JeepCares and don't understand what it is you actually do to help in this situation. So what is the actual help can you provide to us? Also are you an FCA representative or what do they see you as? What is your title and or roll? Is it just you or are you a team of people, how many of you are there?
Please don't take this wrong, we appreciate any help.
Thank you for your efforts.
Please let us know.

I'm still not sure what is causing the vibration, but my latest hypothesis is that its multiple things. I installed a LOD mid width bumper with the skid plate. While I did, I drove it as I took the various OEM plastic pieces off. When I took the air dam and the metal support behind it off the front that seemed to make a big improvement. Even with the LOD skid plate being similar to the stock air dam, it is definitely higher. I'm wondering if with the extra lift on the Rubicon, the air is being sent through the steering linkage in a way that makes it vibrate. I noticed that the plastic steering dampener sleeve is loose and could be the culprit. The new bumper also brings down the front a little bit. I'm about to install a winch as well.

With all that said, I still have vibrations but not the same and not nearly as bad as they used to be. Crosswinds and tailwinds make a difference too. I'm still trying to figure out at what speeds the vibrations are still consistent. I also think fenders are part of the equation as well.

Thank you for adding what you found. We all appreciate it. When you say air dam and metal support behind it, what parts are they exactly? The ones under the jeep? Also where is the plastic steering dampener sleeve, do ypu mean the dampener shock? Any pics of all those pieces? I was thinking of taping some temporary cardboard just under the fenders like the sports have to see if it changes any of the thrumming.
Keep us posted.
Mike

I'm not sure what causes it, my brothers has it and it hasn't been repaired. It's a factory stock Rubicon JLU. Mine did not have it stock, and doesn't have it after its been modified. We have a friend with the same Jeep that doesn't have it either. My brother is in the process of trying to get FCA to buy it back under the lemon laws in Georgia. If you are planning to purchase a new Rubicon you need to drive it and see if it is vibration free. FCA replaced several parts on his, none worked.

Mike, I think JeepCares is just a way for FCA to make forum users "feel the love" without actually spending any love...

They mean well, but have absolutely no power/ressources. I honnestly wish they would just go away. Most times when searching for a solution, the latest post in a thread is them asking whoever to please get in touch. Not very useful on a forum, just white noise...

Hi Mike,
We are a part of the Social Engagement Team at FCA. As a department within customer care, we are not mechanically trained, and therefore, we do rely on our dealers to diagnose vehicle concerns. We work directly with engineering and brand teams to report developing vehicle concerns in order to pursue further research. We open cases for our customers so that your experience, as well as the diagnosis from your dealer, gets documented in our corporate system to assist in this additional research. Aside from that, you are also connected with a Case Specialist to work with throughout your service visit. I hope this provides some clarification. Should you need any assistance throughout a dealer visit, feel free to PM us.

I just did that journey myself. If your brother needs any tips, PM me. I'm also in GA so am familiar with the process and who to call at the State DA's office.
