Well as I expected. Dealer says nothing wrong thats how they sound. They did say mine is a bit louder than the one they have on the lot. We are driving theirs tomorrow to compare the difference. I must say I am not surprised at the result!!!!

Dearest JeepCares,

This thrumming noise is yet another issue that Jeep doesnā€™t seem to want to figure out. Larry is just one of a looong list of people who are experiencing this thrumming/vibration issue. People are so tired of dealing with dealers who wonā€™t spend the time to diagnose AND fix the issue that theyā€™ve given up taking their Jeeps to them unless there is a fix.

Yes I am 1 of a long list of Jeep JL Rubicon owners with an issue that we are not getting any resolve from Jeep or the dealer. JeepCares please don't take this wrong but to just continually say PM us about your problem is a waste of everyones time. I don't need support I need the Jeep repaired and in my opinion the dealer doesn't know what to do with them. I will say this dealer at least made an effort. I drove the one on their lot with my service adviser it was quite. We drove mine and it is so loud you can hear it over the radio and feel the vibration in the steering wheel. The adviser did at least say yours is louder than ours for sure but we don't see anything wrong???? So where does this leave your customers JeepCares???? SMH

Well I have a CDI number but its not going to do anything for me. It makes the price of the new Rubicon about the same as I purchased my 2020 for so thats a wash. But the trade in value of the 2020 isn't good enough to make the deal worth doing. So no real help from Jeep or dealers. Not sure what my next move will be. Not willing to keep going to different dealers. I feel like I'm in a though spot?? Bronco maybe!!!

I am assuming you donā€™t have the problem....or you had the issue and found a remedy none of the dealers could identify. Please enlighten us....because so far Iā€™ve not heard of a successful resolution. And yes, Iā€™m quite sure itā€™s driveline harmonics of some type...but more complicated than a simple shaft rebalance.

I personally think it's the Rzeppas...they basically allow manufacturers to completely disregard pinion angle(s), which is one (probably the primary) reason they're used.

I know I've previously responded to this thread, but I didn't read every page thoroughly...has anyone installed a rear aftermarket d/s (with actual u-joints) and still experience the thrum? I bet it drops off if you also set rear pinion angle at the same time, which is SOP anyhow

Yes, I replaced the factory shaft with 1410 shaft from Adamā€™s. Same thrumming vibe. No vibe with rear shaft removed completely and driven in 4hi. Doubt itā€™s tranny or transfer case. Someone reported a fix after rear diff replaced (assuming they meant rear axle as the diff/locker itself is not available by itself Iā€™ve heard). My current thought is a bad pinion bearing. Jeep is to replace my rear axle due to a bad locker sensor. Weā€™ll see if this takes care of the thrum as well.

Add me to the list.

21 JLUR soft top 2.0T. Glad to hear itā€™s not driveline. From reading this thread, seems itā€™s not tires either but can help eliminate it.

Iā€™m thinking the angle of the front end effects it and swapping tires or lifting it helps as well. So something resonating underneath the front end or fenders would be my guess. Big differences from Sports/Saharaā€™s would be the lift, higher fenders, hood vents, and tires. Maybe fender liners or hood vents?

Either way, glad to hears itā€™s not driveline. Iā€™ll be monitoring this thread.

It's been 2.5 years without a fix.
I am also 'monitoring' the thread but really disappointed with this aspect of my new Rubicon.

I agree, it is disappointing to still have this issue. Was driving today with the family and we could all feel it. Itā€™s not strong or annoying per say but it is there. Itā€™s only around 63 to 67 or so for me. Otherwise you canā€™t feel or hear it. It really does seem like tires but understand people have changed tires with little effect to the thrumming.

Fingers crossed someone figures it out. Until then Iā€™ll just enjoy the new Rubicon and not let it bother me. I am driving across the country so we will see if my attitude stays the same after my trip lol.
