The article makes no sense at all, nor explains what data is used, where they got it, etc. For example, they have the Corvette at both # 7 & # 2 ( and the picture for # 7 is a heavily modified C7 - at least 3 model years old).

That's what I mean by quoting MSN. I do see substantial markups on new JL's around me, anywhere from $3k and up depending on the model, but the numbers in their story don't add up.

My money is on Ford for biggest markup, with their customers going on a 2 year plus run around with failed reservation program. Pic taken last week in Sin City.

$30k markup? No frickin' way. :headbang:

I refuse to pay anything over MSRP (or even MSRP for that matter...), let alone that craziness.

Hate quoting MSN...
Curious as to why. I find them to be informative. Is there a more accurate news source that I should be trying?

That's because 2drs are the best :)
https://www.iseecars.com/new-cars-with-greatest-price-hikes-study
But to be fair, the 4drs suffer less depreciation
https://www.iseecars.com/cars-that-hold-their-value-study#v=2020
And I bet that depreciation for all Wranglers is much less than 30% over 5 yrs, especially that my 3yr old 2019 w/ 30k miles kbb's at almost 3k more than I paid for it when I ordered it from Toledo :)
And it's not just Wranglers. I bought my '19 WK2 Last January for $27k. 6 months later the same dealer called me back offering me $5k more for it than I paid for it.

I don't. Personally I seem to find more errors in many of their stories than a lot of other sources, not that any of them are infallible...

I believe that no matter what picture they show, the figure is percentage over base MSRP. Chevy had 2 new models of Corvette to sell last year. They had to clear out the C7s and then the C8s started to arrive about mid year.

This piece was probably written by someone out in the cubicles and the photos were likely picked by someone who is clueless about cars.

It was a nice time back in 2018 when I could order my JL for 6% under invoice, and enjoy it for the last 3 only to have it go up in value. Would be even better if I didn't have to replace it with another were I to move it, lol.

can still get 6% below invoice today (inclluding 1% affilaites)

I just sold a 2019 Sahara for $6K above what i paid (6% below Invoice at time) Sold @ $47K to BMW.

Buying back into a 2022 Rubicon for $47K (5% below Invoice) + Taxes

Cost to change of $3.5/4K - but that is due to the upgrade
