Did people really put the tabs inside the full can after opening?
Yep, I never understood it. Saw a few people hack on one when it flowed in their mouth. I heard it caused more than a few ER trips when one got swallowed. Hard to beilive they showed it in a commercial.

The gravel parking lots at the dance halls used to be full of those pull tabs, or pop tops as we called them. I still see one now and then.

Our beer in those days was Lone Star, Pearl, Schiltz and Falstaff a little before my time. Then Miller Lite took over everything but they were all like modern cans by then. Last pull top I saw was on 6 pack of Shiner Bock I bought in 1991. I remember because I’d just got back from Desert Storm.

I served with guys from the South, who were fond of saying that "the movie" was actually a documentary in their eyes. Who knew how right they were, lol.

The boys are thirsty in Atlanta
And there's beer in Texarkana
And we'll bring it back no matter what it takes
Probably right. My uncle was an OTR trucker back then, everyone in the family had a CB, even in our cars. I believe that was my uncle's favorite movie too.

All this kind of reminds me of another song from 1973 I believe.
"Rednecks, White Socks, & Blue Ribbon Beer".
