Man that sucks. We’re still happy with ours. I’m fixing to start building my wife’s JL. Got the build sheet today and expect the window sticker soon. Going to start having to spend money on hers vs mine. If we get any more steering issues, I don’t know anything else to do besides Redneck ram or psc. I know how frustrating this is chasing it down.

I’ve been going back and forth with buying an alignment rack. Would be nice to keep it in house but would also make it much easier to play around with ours and trying our different caster settings and speed up installing steer smart tie rods

Just curious, a weeks or so ago you were still having DW even after the steersmart upgrade. Did you figure it out and if so what did you adjust.

I have had my wobble 99% under control since Christmas. I added the steersmart drag link and the falcon SS. I still have a slight shimmy on the freeway when I’m over 70MPH and I hit a bump, it seems like it might want to DW but the SS stops it. I’m considering addeding the tierod to see if it fixes all of it, but I need to make sure my tires are perfectly balanced first.

The steering was getting progressively worse, put it back on the lift, pulled the tires this time and was able to get everything to tighten up. I used a torque wrench like I should’ve the first time. All the difference in the world after that! When you think something is tight, it’s probably best to check with a torque wrench to be sure.

No. I pulled the pins and checked them. This was 100% on me. The tie rod and drag link ends we’re what needed to have the torque wrench on them. A quarter turn can make a world of difference.

How did you torque the pitman arm connection? Looks to me like a crows foot is needed? I just tightened that one with a wrench likely too short of one.

IF you did own a JL, you would be here reading and learning and making helpful posts ,versus cluttering up forum threads with nonsense stuff.

My Jeep is a little over 4 months old - About once every couple of weeks, it would shimmy on the highway hitting a bridge joint or pothole. Annoying but I would let off the gas and it would correct itself after about 5 or 7 seconds. I ended up taking it to the dealer - they put a new damper in early Feb and it was working great. Saturday I'm driving on the highway though downtown DC, hit a bridge joint and my Jeep just shock violently - like VERY bad....I let up on the gas and it was still shaking like crazy - started freaking out a little and decided to pull over - not happening bc there was no shoulder. So I got over and slowed to about 35 or 40 and the wobble stopped. Have an appointment Wednesday. It's fully stocked and only 2500 miles on it.
Thanks for letting me vent....first Jeep.....so frustrating.

I have 2dr sport and this has been happening to me. Happens to me at 60mph-70mph when i hit a bump a certain way. Stock sport tires 36psi. I have had 2 wheel balances. From reading the forums, doesn’t look like changing the stabilizer is a permanent fix so I’m waiting to see some options.

First time for me today. <2000 miles. 65MPH. Small bump then WTF.

In my opinion you have two options if you want to keep your JL.

1. Wait for Jeep to get their act together and figure out they took too much weight out of the steering components. Don’t hold your breath on this one, it’s been over a year and they still have no solution.

2. Go get the steersmart kit or synergy kit and replace the draglink, tierod and trackbar. This seems to be the best solution and fixes most peoples wobble issues. This fixed my issues after months of different approaches.

Yes an expensive steering stabilizer will cause the wobble to stop but it doesn’t fix the problem.

I'd consider diving right into option #2 right now if it was certain to fix the problem and it addressed the play in the steering as well. I don't want to get into a situation where either problem remains and the dealer won't work on a modded front end.
