I was a little surprised to find out that none of the USB ports or outlets in the front half of the Jeep stay hot when it’s off (after an hour), and I like to keep my phone charged up when I’m sleeping in the back, so I installed the CoolTech PowerPort to fix that. Super simple install and it fixed that problem!

The Green River: High Water in Labyrinth Canyon
Thursday – Sunday, June 2-5, 2022

After spending a week circling the Colorado Plateau it was time to get back on the river, so I went on a float with a couple of friends down the Green River through Labyrinth Canyon. Although I didn't really use my Jeep much on this trip, it is worth noting that I had to let a stranger who was not responsible for anything drive my brand new Jeep during the shuttle. Thankfully it all worked out! You can find the full story here: https://adventr.co/2022/06/the-green-river-high-water-in-labyrinth-canyon/

I am actually spending this weekend at home for a change, so I was able to get a little work done on the JL this morning before it really got hot out!

First up, I installed the Oracle Cargo Light onto the rear glass and wired it up. I definitely could have used more light in the rear of my JK, and hope this will take care of that.

Then I added some Rock Hard 4x4 bolt head protectors to the bolts on the main crossmember. These things saved my ass on the JK when I needed to take my skid plates off, so I thought it would be a good idea to install them before I start dragging the skids over rocks…

I’ve missed having my fridge in the back of my Jeep and having to use a cooler for the past two months (I dislike and am no good at wiring stuff, so I put it off), so I finally got that wired up today, too!

Here’s a shot of the fridge and DeepSleep. I’ve been using the DeepSleep for about a month now and it’s very comfortable.

Earlier in the week I touched up the paint on my hinges and installed some Threedom Hinge Covers since mine were already starting to get chipped up pretty good and I hope these will help prevent them from getting too bad.

Oh yeah, I also removed the Sun Shade I had installed a couple weeks ago. It just wasn’t for me since I’m pretty tall and my head was in it.

High Mesas and Plateaus of Western Colorado
Friday – Sunday, June 24-26, 2022

I spent the last weekend of June exploring the high mesas and plateaus of Western Colorado from the Flat Tops to the Roan Plateau. It was a good time, except for almost running out of gas. You can read the full story here: https://adventr.co/2022/06/high-mesas-and-plateaus-of-western-colorado/

Sill protectors are some of the most overrated products out there. My sills will look brand new years from now.
Everyone has different needs. I spend most weekends camping from my Jeep and frequently sit sideways in the drivers seat with the door open and my dirty hiking shoes on the sill. I also use them when putting my shoes on in the morning. Besides not wanting to put my dirty shoes right on the painted surface, the sill guards also add extra grip that is useful. To me, they are worth the $20 I spent on them (and they were worth it in my previous JK, too).

OK, to me they are overrated. Your mileage may vary. ✌🏻

This morning I replaced my Body Armor 4X4 Interior Rack with a Vector Offroad GGB Cargo Basket. While there was nothing wrong with the Body Armor Rack, there were some things I liked about the GGB that worked better for my needs:

1. The GGB is a bit wider and longer, and I wanted a longer rack.
2. I wanted something adjustable in height.
3. The GGB weighs quite a bit less.
4. I prefer that the rack mounts to the roll bars.
5. I wanted the higher rails on all sides, aside from the back.

Installation was super easy and I really think this rack is going to work out better for me.

I also installed a Cargo Dog this morning since I rarely use the back seat and can always use more storage space, especially lockable space. Plus, it’s now a little flatter for sleeping in the back.

Delano Peak: Top of the Tushar Mountains
Friday & Saturday, July 8-9, 2022

Back in early July I needed to head to San Diego for a week, so I figured why not take my Jeep and do some hiking on the way there and back? On the first day of the drive out I went on my first foray into the Tushar Mountains of Utah and hiked to the summit of the highest peak in the range. You can read the full story here: https://adventr.co/2022/07/delano-peak-top-of-the-tushar-mountains/

After spending a week in San Diego around way too many people I needed to get back out on a long hike into the wilderness to decompress, so I made a stop in Death Valley National Park to hike Telescope Peak on my way back home.
