BTW, this is the cleanest I have seen your Jeep for quite some time.

I have seen way too many stories of people getting injured because they didn't keep a sensible distance from wild animals.

Question - Why not just buy a firearm once you get into Alaska?
or, sell the one you have while you are still in Alaska, or ship it back home.

cannot stress enough, do not play the paperwork game with RCMP trying to get any gun across canada. I tried three restricted guns, spent 3 weeks making 6 hours of calls talking to 14 different experts at RCMP offices, all was good. Until i showed up at border and magically one of the serial numbers on THIER paperwork was wrong. My paperwork was spot on. Left all three in USA.

Now on day 7 in Prince George. Saw 7 bear today. In a class C 4 season Forest River, was snowed on in Motana, freezing overnight first night south of Calgary, now 65 in PG. Great trip so far, forest fire forcing alternate route because alaska hiway closed at Fort Nelson.

First full day in Alaska. We drove 63 miles south of Tok to the Wrangell-St. Elias National Park. There is a forest road that takes you 40+ miles out into the wilderness and behind some mountains. The road was super scenic. Huge mountains, beautiful lakes and rivers. Even seen a place with bush planes.



The views of mountains were around every corner.

The stream running through our camp. We will be drinking coffee with incredible views in the morning.

We did some hiking. Came upon this bench lakeside and Carla was giving a pep talk to Mr. Business about how to fight grizzly bears, mountain lions and wolves. She was reminding him that he had duties and responsibilities.

I had zero issues taking my restricted Glock 20 through Canada. I think I had less than 15 minutes on the phone with Canada to get the correct forms, email ed them back to them. They called me and went over the forms with me to ensure they were correctly filled out.
At the border, the Canadian border guard was a little tense, but after looking at my paperwork. I was on my way. It took me about a half hour to be processed through the border crossing.

we have already seen people being stupid around wild animals. Like buy a camera with a big lens if you want a close up shot.

your luck of the draw story on a semi is why i tried. They were very nice, told me where to store the gun back in the USA. Currently Kitwanga waiting for another day, this time supposedly really bad frost heaves. Hiway 1 supposed to open Tuesday.

The Jeep was a mess this morning from our run yesterday. I threw buckets of water on the mirrors and door handles so Zi could see and kind of get into the jeep without muddy hands.

After hooking up the camper, we headed to Valdez Alaska. We almost ran out of fuel trying to get to the the closest gas station. Lucky for us the next gas station was only a few miles farther. Just know a JLUR holds 21 gallons of fuel.


The drive to Valdez Alaska has to be one of the most incredible drive I have ever done.



The vast majority of the videos in the YouTube video and the pics below were taken with the #wolfbox g900 dash cam. It make talking photos and videos super easy while driving.

There were plenty of waterfalls along the way. We could not possibly stop at all of them.

While we started out driving in the rain, the afternoon turned out to be an amazing day with big blue skies.

We stopped off at the Wrangell-St. Elias National Park Visitor Center to break up the drive to Valdez to do some hiking and get Carla’s National Parks passport stamped.

Carla has a goal to go to every National Parks and get the Park’s stamp in her National Parks Passport book. The hike took you out to this spot over looking a cliff to the river Kulutina

Then after driving a few more hours, we walk the marina and check out the scenic views over the bay and marina.

We just passed 121,000 miles yesterday. We have towed campers over 61,000+ of those miles. Probably 20,000+ miles off road.

I got an alert yesterday saying it was open. I did not follow though as I am over a 1000 miles way already.
