Saw this 1944 Willys (pronounced willis) on the road and asked him to pull over. What a trip, the very first model and the latest model both stripped. It was a beautiful Jeep and the guy does WWII reenactments with it.

Trivia:
The phrase "Follow the bouncing ball" came from the guys in the field in WWII. The differential cover on his Jeep was painted white and he said that at night the lead Jeep would run his nighttime lights and the other Jeeps would all shine a light on the diff of the Jeep in front of them. They called it following the bouncing ball.

Sorry for the crappy pics I don't have a smart phone with a nice camera :)

Someone with photoshop skills, please lift the 1944 Jeep, put some 37” tires on it and let’s see how much of a skeleton it’ll look like compared to the JL.

It's amazing how small they used to be. I was in the Army when we transitioned from the Jeep to the HMMWV. I thought to myself how is this going to fit in the places I've gone with a Jeep?
