Get a manual transmission and they won't know how to drive it.

Cops made it sound like - they break window to gain access. Plug in a reprogrammer. They can then get vehicle to start/reprogram their own key. On their way in a couple of minutes.Yes, the fob signal can be “hacked” from outside the house to program/simulate a new fob or boost the signal to make the the vehicle and fob think they’re within range of each other to then open and operate the vehicle. You can purchase a faraday cage/box/bag (or make your own) to store the fob and block the fob signal.
Keyfob can be hacked even if you don't press a button... here is a video explaining how this "Key Fob Relay Attack" happens... juicy details start at 3:30 on the videoI could be wrong, but I don't think they KeyFob can be hacked until a button is pushed or until it is activated by being in close proximity to the Jeep? It's basically in sleep mode waiting on a wakeup signal from the Jeep. A "sniffer" device can intercept the code sent between the remote and the Jeep and be "stolen" and used as a valid code later. That's one of many reasons it's a really bad idea to repeatedly push the lock/unlock button in a public area... I had a former relative that just enjoyed drawing attention to his truck so he would repeatedly push the lock button to make the horn honk. How Annoying!!!
And this is why I have Ravelco among a couple of other things that I can't say because there may be thieves lurking these forums.....Keyfob can be hacked even if you don't press a button... here is a video explaining how this "Key Fob Relay Attack" happens... juicy details start at 3:30 on the video
Great reply! You win for today!A friend of mine is currently on the car theft unit and said that the best a guy can do is revert to old school deterrent like steering wheel blockers and such, because the new era of thieves won't bother and risk the time it takes to battle with these. And, they don't carry the needed tools anymore. They're too busy holding their crotch to keep their pants from falling
Also, I have an Hikeit X9 throttle controller and I have the ability to lock the throttle with a 3 digit code. So if they can star it and remove the steering blocker bar, they'll have to flee at idle speed![]()
Yeah.. Ravelco is a great solution... I wish it was cheaper to install...And this is why I have Ravelco among a couple of other things that I can't say because there may be thieves lurking these forums.....
I take the Ravelco plug with me everywhere.
Yes. Even when I get out to go to the store really quick it comes off. Car won't start without
It was $650 with taxes included and installed. Took the tech about 2 hrsYeah.. Ravelco is a great solution... I wish it was cheaper to install...
If you don't mind me asking... how much did you pay total for the Ravelco system?
You can buy a cheap electromagnetic blocking sleeve from Amazon. Look for “RF Faraday cage key fob” as search terms. If you remove the battery from your key fob when travelling, or pretty much anywhere, you give up some conveniences, but keep your Jeep . Without a battery, the Fob is not generating anything to be hacked.
Push button start still works with a push from the Fob, and use the key to unlock the doors.

Honestly if I would have kept the Jeep stock then I wouldn't have worried about it not purchased Ravelco.
But since I chose to buy parts and build it I wanted to be extra sure it would be harder to steal.
Good reason to keep it in a garage I guess...Keyfob can be hacked even if you don't press a button... here is a video explaining how this "Key Fob Relay Attack" happens... juicy details start at 3:30 on the video
I assume it must be a franchised operation as here it's 'California and Arizona Ravelco' and they have a special running now as I just placed an order...$599.95 less 10% for AAA members, so $539.96 (not including tax)Price has gone up, it's $699 now for non-diesel and $749 for diesel...

No mention of extra charge for being a diesel.
