Theft Deterrent. Discuss

What is you opinion on a Wrangler with a visible steering wheel lock?

  • Good idea. Anything to slow down a thief, or make him move on to the next vehicle.

  • The thief or a random passerby is going to see it as a challenge, and target that Jeep specifically!

  • Waste of money. If the 'right' thief wants it, it's going to be stolen no matter what you do to it.

  • Why do you keep calling them thieves? No one says that.

Ever see how quickly a hacksaw blade with a duct tape handle can cut through a steering wheel? Lol. Quicker than it took me to write this post.

We currently have a theft ring operating here in Ottawa. They can have a Wrangler/Gladiator in about 5 min. So far the best deterrent other than a full kill switch is enabling the hood pins to set the alarm off if the hood is opened while jeep is locked.
They need to pop the hood to pull horn and head unit fuse before connection to Star rail behind glove box to make a key.

But if there is another jeep or another vehicle next to it which do you think they will go after?

The pros will get it no matter what. But the majority of thefts are casual opportunists.

I dont think parking beside a more desirable Jeep is a very good deterrent. Lol.
Nothing said about a more desirable Jeep but one that does not have a theft deterrent. perhaps the Jeep owner who put the club on the wheel also has a kill switch? Those can be defeated also but takes time. The one next to it with no theft deterrent at all will go faster.

Then the club is irrelevant. Stay on subject.
Excuse me? The point of this thread entire is whether the Club (or other theft deterrent devices) is irrelevant or not. Even with the club in place, if someone wants the vehicle badly enough, they'll get it.

No one has ever claimed the club will prevent a tow truck from removing your vehicle. It is designed to prevent a thief from driving it away.

So what's the argument? You seem to be nit picking at nothing. The OP posted a survey as to opinions on visible theft deterrents like a wheel lock/Club. I responded, as did others. The point being, the wheel lock/Club will not prevent theft.

Let's leave this here, as there is no point in clogging this thread up with nonsense.
