thanks but I wound up going an entirely different direction. Got theTeraflex HD Alpha carrier and went with Next Venture Motorsport aluminum bumper.
I have been eyeing that Next Venture aluminum rear bumper myself but have not had luck with finding any reviews. I learned on previous Jeeps keeping it light and nimble is my preference in the rocky terrain of California’s deserts.

Now that you have had the bumper on your Jeep for a year, do you have any thoughts about it that you care to share?

I havent hit it on anything yet to see if it moves, but I really doubt it will. its rock solid. I definitely have no regrets or anything bad to say other than the install may not be as easy as other bumpers.

Love the red accents you went with on the recovery points and logo backer plate.

I'll be the first to admit that install on that rear bumper takes an extra minute to get everything lined up. If you want something that will sit tight to the frame and not migrate into the body tub over time, AND hugs tight to the body/frame so it's not often catching, it's difficult to make install a breeze -- the looser fitting bumpers do a great job of fitting loosely. I just can't stand a rear bumper that makes it's way into the body - protecting the tub is part of it's job on the trail.

Hope you're getting to put it to good use on the trails; thanks for sharing the feedback on it!

Front came out great too. just enough room for some Baja Design fogs. Your belly skid system with the uhmw is next on the list.

I finally found a Mopar knockoff to my liking and purchased it. https://www.amazon.com/POSENG-Tailgate-Reinforcement-Compatible-2018-2021/dp/B0BBLTZ2MP/ref=sr_1_11_sspa?crid=3GRJ8T9ZT49IG&keywords=oversized+spare+tire+carrier+kit+jeep+wrangler+jl+2018-2021&qid=1689441440&sprefix=spare+tire+carrier+for+wrangler+JL,aps,159&sr=8-11-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9tdGY&psc=1
It was even 20% off when I ordered it $132.97. Shipping time was 4 days, It came nicely packaged with instructions and most importantly all the hardware. The brace is aluminum and light at 11 lbs. I am installing it now(taking a break), it is on the tailgate and fit without issue. I will edit this post with a few pictures later today.

Not much to see. My tire wheel weigh about 97 lbs. + 11 lbs for the brace. The tailgate does not move up or down when leveraged at the handle and I am believing the Mopar techs I talked with at EJS. With a 35" tire, a brace is for the aluminum tailgate and the OEM hinges are fine.

Covered the 4 wheel drive vinyl
I see a lot of guys post about the knockoff reinforcements coming with cheap bolts. What was your experience?

Thank you both for the input.. the more I’ve read, the less I find myself believing that I’ll need to reinforce my stock setup right away. My JLU is a daily driver that I wheel a few times a year.. not a rock crawler that we wheel hard every weekend. I’m also keeping my stock Moab wheels & replacing stock tires w/ 35” Ridge Grapplers. I think I’ll be okay as far as weight is concerned, I’ll just have to keep an eye on the bump stops & location compared to the bumper once the tires are mounted next week.
What did you end up doing on this? We are getting ready to go 35x11.50 on my wife's '22 Willy's and keeping stock wheels. Seems like reinforcement for tailgate isn't really needed for a daily driver that isn't wheeled hard. Did you reinforce or add a tire relocation bracket? (we have stock bumper still)

Just put a LOD full size rear bumper with tire carrier on my 2011 JKU Wrangler. The main reason being I have 32 inch tires and they weigh a ton. I camp with and sleep in the Jeep a lot and because of that use the tailgate way more than most do. I noticed that the standard tailgate hinges taking a beating so the logic is, tailgate falling off while on a long cross country trip deprives me of my home which means a hotel while getting the tailgate fixed. My male justification accounting practices therefore point to the obvious conclusion that a bumper mounted tire carrier saves the tailgate which saves me losing the door which save me hotel bills which ultimately means I SAVE MONEY ! If anyone is interested in any more of my Jeep owner financial justification series just let me know.
I am though preemptively looking for a couple of spare parts for the Destroyer bumper/tire carrier if anyone has a lead, I would appreciate that as I am having no luck searching

32" tires are super heavy.

Can you shed a bit more light on the install? I'm looking at your rear bumper to pick up in the next couple of weeks but outside my wife being able to lift something I'm in solo man's land for that install. If it's not something that is reasonably done by one person I may need to look elsewhere. I'm all for not having the bumper roll into the tub on rock strikes, but I need to be able to install it first :)

YES this LOD bumper is easily installed as it is modular. The biggest issue is manhandling the box it arrives in ! check out this very comprehensive and good 1/2 hour youtube about the LOD bumper tire carrier.
It will tell you EVERYTHING you need to know before you hand over a small fortune. LOD is an above average setup and if you are not planning on keeping your jeep for a long time, maybe not worth it as there are cheaper, BUT not as rugged options out there

Luckily you don't need to install all of it at once; the bumper can be installed with the swingout removed and installed once the bumper is fitted. I wouldn't turn down an extra set of hands if you have a buddy in the garage, but it is possible to do solo. I have done some of them solo before (late nights or weekends in the shop when the rest of the team is out) and will share that just getting 1 bolt to line up (loosely) and then loosely inserting all the hardware (without tightening anything yet!) seems to help a ton. Once everything that holds the bumper to the frame is tightened down, you can start greasing the swingout bearings and installing it separately.

Have you seen this video?

I’m hoping that other than the hinge swap on the JL, the install is the same as the JK.

If you’re doing the install this weekend, would you make note of any critical steps?
I feel like I'm missing something in this thread. Does this JK tire carrier fit on the JL? What do you mean by hinge swap? The description on their site seems to show its only for JK. But the slant adapter says its for JK/JL. Thanks!

To be honest, I don’t remember the specifics on the carrier, I installed that about 7 years ago and sold the Jeep quite a while back. The version I had was definitely JL specific and completely replaced the hinges, not just spacers like shown in the video. Ace you to have a JL specific install video on YouTube that showed the install.
