What's the difference between the short and long roof rack system? They are within $30 of each other in price point. I did not expect a roof rack system to cost $1200+...

One is short. One is long.

It's the rhino rack pioneer platform set up with fancy hard top mounts. The pioneer platform alone is the vast majority of the cost.

Watch some youtube videos showing their system for the JK.

It's similar to the rhino rack backbone system, however it just goes straight through the hard top to the sport bars for support.

Their images on maximus-3's website don't show the difference between the short and long. The images are the same.

Take a look at their JK version - the images actually show the different lengths.

Just ordered it. Was trying to decide between this and the Teraflex but since this is available - it won. I need a rack by the end of the month hahahahaha. I got the long with full side rails and a ladder. With 10% military discount it ended up at $1502 and everything should arrive my house within 10 days.

Maximus system looks awesome but you can’t run a tent on it because it is not flat on top correct?

My Jeep shop just ordered one for my RTT. If I'm not mistaken, those rails are add ons.

I ordered the ladder and the long platform. I'm hoping their not wrong.

Yes. The rails are add ons, as is the ladder. the pioneer plaform is flat. Static weight is about 900 lbs., dynamic is about 300 lbs.

Also if I take the hard top off do the mounts interfere with me using the soft top?

It’s hard to get a photo of the front brackets because my spiderweb shade is on with the hard top. They are right over the sound bar. I don’t know exactly how the soft top works but I would think it would be ok.

Installation guide for that KC rack is telling. The rack connects to the hardtop via rivnuts. Its basically cosmetic rack for mounting lights. There is no support from the vehicle. From a load perspective, its no different than laying someting directly on the hardtop. Yawn.

this is great. A few questions: How hard was install? Good instructions? Did you have to relocate the Satellite module?

I thought the install was really straightforward with good instructions (attached). I did relocate the satellite antenna just above the driver's side sun visor immediately to the left of the freedom top latch. See photo.
