The point of half doors?

Lazy Saturday night, I'm bored and gonna ask a dumb question since I'm new to Wranglers.

What is the point of half doors?

No window frame. So you get a more open air feel.

Half doors with the top down is the cleanest look you can get. The perfectly even body line just looks amazing.

So you can feel like your doors are off, but still have an arm rest.

Getting around some traffic restrictions. In some provinces up here, and maybe some states, it's a traffic violation to have no doors. Half doors are fine though.

It's a signature Jeep-y thing, like a folding windshield or easily removable doors & top.

I find the full doors to be a bit claustrophobic, whereas the half doors don't crowd my elbow.

The half doors are much, much lighter than full doors.. so it's considerably easier to go doors on/doors off.

Sure it is a compromise losing an integrated glass window, but aren't all things in life? I think in general, half doors are just more fun, and, isn't that a big part of why folks buy Jeeps?

Also good for keeping water out when crossing creeks or low water crossings.

Bestop needs to make a set of slider window uppers again, loved those things on my old yj.
They should also make another hybrid soft top again with the glass windows.

I had Bestop sliders on my TJ half doors. Way better than the zippered soft plastic windows.

I remember those particular uppers. I never got a set for my YJ because the opening created by the slider was too small to be practical, IMO.

Hopefully, any sort of offering for the JL generation Wrangler maximizes the sliding portion of the plastic panel.
