Also here is the overhead panel feeling right at home and doing it’s job. Banana for scale.

So here is the current issue. After finishing the install, I turned the jeep on and the wipers started going on high .Check Engine Light stays on, and dash reads "Service Electronic Stabilizer". Along the with the other symptoms: no rear wipers, no washer fluid, no high beams, no flashers, no blinkers, and no steering wheel warmer. The wheel was also tough to turn while sitting still. Well, tougher than usual, but its fine while moving obviously. I had the techs at work take a quick look and we narrowed it down to the Steering wheel control module. I also have no controls on the wheel(Volume, skip, directional, ok, call buttons, cruise control. The horn works fine tho (ironically). But I'll bring it into the shop tomorrow morning to get a better proper look. just weird cause its uh 2 months old with 4,600 miles lol. We will see.

Oh thank you. I actually work for a dealership. 2 Jeep dealerships in fact. I figured it was something small like a blown fuse so I just had the techs look it over. It was indeed a fuse. If they weren’t able to figure it out I would’ve pm’d you guys. Thanks for the response tho much appreciated.

Today, got some treats in. My @Metalcloak exoskins arrived and what a beauty. Well packaged, hardware included, and you can pretty much get all their instructions on their page along with video companions. This was a pretty straight forward install. Protip: measure 3 times, drill once. There are lines on the plating to help lineup to the lines on the Jeep. I highly recomend using big clamps for woodworking or as Metalcloak suggested, tape it on the body. I taped the surface of the jeep just to protect the paint a bit, a bit overkill but it is what it is.

IMG_2068.jpg

Marked the holes and use a center punch to mark the center of the holes where you will be drilling. Start with a 1/8" drill bit for the pilot holes. Then move up to 7/16, a 7/32, and finally a 17/32. I used a step bit but a warning, certain sections will have something behind the body pannel. so be careful drilling and try to keep it straight.

IMG_2070.jpg

Metalcloak suggests that you unbolt some of the front fender and lift it away from the body so that you can instal the nutserts a little easier. I did not and it may have contributed to my downfall. So I improvised and got some of it in. The rest were pretty easy.Mainly the middle and back ones. The front was a doozie.

IMG_2071.jpg

For a little something extra, I added a red vinyl square on the body so that it shows the Metalcloak logo a bit more. Sure does pop nicely. Somewhere along the way not sure which part, some of the holes up front didnt line up. I will have to fix this tomorrow when I do the other side. Yes I only did the driver side as I was pressed for time (more on this later). But for the most part the exoskin is on there and is secured.

Tomorrow when I do the passenger side, I'll be sure to make sure that everything is lined up and straight and I may actually lift the front fender because putting the nutserts in were a blast(sarcasm). But for now it looks awesome. I cannot wait to order the overland flip up step from them along with the fender flares. More to come tomorrow.

Also, part reason I was pressed for time was because I had to go pick up some more additions that arrived. Tires #3 and #4 arrived along with wheel #1. So once wheels #2-5 get here, they'll get mounted up.

Got the other side of the Metalcloak exoskin installed today. Took my time and marked, drilled the pilot holes, while the skins are on the Jeep this time(using tape to hold it in place). Then removed the plating and enlarged the holes for the nutserts. I removed 3 of the 10mm bolts holding the fender up front so you could lift it by about 1/2" so you can instal the nutserts(as per directions lulz). I did not do this for the driver side and let me tell you, what a difference. Now I just gotta grind 2 of the holes on the driverside so I can put the bolts in there. Should be taken care of by tomorrow. Also, I got to mount my one wheel to one of the tires so I just gotta wait for the rest of the wheels. These things are massive, can't wait to get these on the Jeep.

Had to take advantage of this gorgeous day and take some things off. Note to self: get mirrors.

Ha! The first time I took my doors off I was so excited that not having side mirrors didn't even occur to me!
Yeah I work right on a main highway and didn’t realize how much I actually used my mirrors until I tried to get on the highway and was like WTF WHERES MY MIRROR?! WAIT I TOOK MY DOOR OFF! Lmao

Best way to practice Social Distancing this weekend by scouting out some trails. Most of the trails were still gated closed for the winter last month so figured some would’ve been open by now since it’s been getting nicer out.

This has been the most I e gotten done on the Jeep since the stay at home order beside going to work and going on supply runs. Perks about working at a dealership is that I paid about $40 bucks for these.
