I sold my 2014 JKU to buy a new 2018 and I'm starting to have some regrets about the whole thing. My old Jeep had it's issues but the new model has really let me down. To start off:
Picked up the Wrangler and immediately noticed the 8.4" UConnect was rebooting every 3 minutes even when the vehicle was off. I also noticed the windshield had lots of deep scratches on the inside of all places. Brought it back to the dealer and left it for a day. Dealer couldn't buff out the windshield scratches or fix the radio so they ordered both.
When the radio arrived I brought the Jeep back to the dealer and left it for the day to have it installed. Got in the Jeep and noticed the trim panels weren't properly reinstalled but whatever, I got it back home and popped everything back into place.
Day 2 after the radio install... Still waiting on the windshield but the radio is now locking up every day after I turn the Jeep off and back on again. The bottom buttons become totally useless and it gets stuck on whatever screen I left it on. I let the dealer know that this will also have to be addressed once the windshield comes in.
It's also been raining quite a bit and my Jeep is equipped with the sky one touch top. Every time it rains the front passenger floor, door panel and seat get rained on as well. I use this Jeep for work so I usually have paperwork or people in the front seat. This issue has obviously been less than ideal so I notified the dealer and added that to the list when the windshield comes in.
Moving on... the other day I start the Jeep and notice a puff of blue smoke out of the tailpipe. Added to the list.
Moving on again... I always thought the brakes felt soft but the other day at startup, the pedal went right to the floor but then stiffened up after a few presses. Something is obviously wrong there as well... Added to the list.
The windshield has now arrived so I bring the Jeep to the dealer once again. Keep in mind I still haven't owned this for a month. Obviously, nobody knew what was going on when I arrived and tells me it's probably going to be here for a week because they have to schedule the window install even though the day I brought it was the day I was scheduled to bring it. After a few words were exchanged they kept the Jeep and gave me a Dodge Journey as a loaner. Now I sit and wait while I pay for a Jeep I can't use.
This whole experience has been a huge letdown and to be honest, Jeep might lose a lifetime customer as a result. My family and I have owned Jeeps for over 40 years. It's sad to see a brand we all love just fail in so many ways. I'll update this thread as the issues are dealt with. Hopefully, I'll have a working Jeep before the summer is over.
