I like the black fenders on the Willys model, along with the black grille and wheels. Adds a nice contrast. Would love a Hella Yella or white one.

I found the “brush and wipe” of black textured fenders to be a bit of a myth. I was never able to get them to look like new short of a strenuous scrub. Worse, they would start to fade and turn chalky relatively soon.

If you order painted fenders, they should already come with protective film... mine did. If it doesn't cover enough, you can always remove it & replace with 3M. This is my driver-side rear. Please excuse the dirt... but it's a Jeep and pollen season started.

I opted for the body color painted hardtop and fenders on my Sarge green two door because I plan on doing ceramic coat on the painted surfaces. I can't stand waxing a vehicle with black plastic accents and having to worry about not getting wax on the black pieces.

The fact that you have to ask the question is your answer - it’s clearly going to bother you so get one the way you want it.

OP, there is NO WRONG ANSWER..... pick what you like.....

I actually like pained flares and a black top. I personally think that a white Jeep with black flares and black top looks like shit (apologies to those that have that combo). And I think an all white Jeep looks like an freaking ambulance. To me, black top and painted flares is perfect.

across the whole model line of colors, I like painted flares and black top. Others? Only black on black or all paint.....or..... Your Jeep, your choice.... the only thing that I know for sure is that there is NO WRONG CHOICE for you.

My Hummer H3 had painted fenders and they were easily the most damaged, and worst looking, painted section of the whole rig. I recall wanting to line-X them. Any Jeep of mine will have black fenders.

Black fenders only. I may be a mall crawler but don't want to look like one. :giggle:

I like both fender choices. Certain colors look better with black fenders, some look better painted. My personal opinion is that all colors look good with black fenders but not all look good with painted fenders. To each their own though of course.

For the record, these pictures are not of mine, they are of an unsold model at the local dealership.

Here’s a heavily modified one with no top and black aftermarket flares. Mopar lift, 37” tires with mopar wheels

I got black flares on my Punk’n JLR but opted for painted on my replacement. The reason? I love the orange and wanted to see more of it :CWL:.

Good tip on paint protection film. I’m going to take mine off-road and pinstripes will happen, oh well.

Yep I tried that on my TJ. I also tried a heat gun and wipe on chemicals. All of those attempts failed after a while. The black returned back to the gray chalky color after time. The only real fix is spraying them with a matte black spray paint.
