I'm still sticking with my half brained crazy idea of a 3.0D 4xe. It should be feasible, but a heavy sum bitch. It would have gobs of grunt, and would be the most efficient Wrangler ever.

Where's the 4.0L I6?
I wish to reaffirm my comment after taking delivery of my 3.6L two days ago. Yes, I know it's a better, more modern engine. But it sounds like a minivan. I want my tractor!

Let's just bolster the frame and start with 60/80s from the factory and upgraded brakes, it would cost a small fortune but be their most capable wrangler ever.

The 2.0 sounds like a tractor.

You might want to look under your Jeep and see if someone stole your exhaust...
It's the noisy injectors combined with the almost too low gearing (on a stock Rubicon). Also my experience with tractors has mostly been with low revving inline four cylinders.

In Jeeps I have had:

4.0L
3.8L
3.6L
3.6L eTorque
2.0L 4xe
1.3L
2.4L

So far the two most reliable were the 4.0L and, believe it or not, the 3.8L (both over 200K miles with zero issues).
