That jeep chat told me i was in JB status then 2 days later i got email from dealer saying my rubicon was in transit to dealer. So take what jeep chat says with grain of salt. Unless they took what i said serious. They asked me if i got the soft top. I said yes, but if thats the wait then just send it with my hard top and send soft top to dealer later. Saves me from taking top off to get soft top off.

D: Firm schedule - dealer has allocation and all parts available

So I am in D, reading that makes me think my parts are in. Chat just said that means they are ordering my parts... what does D mean ?

My understanding is that they are in the process of allocating parts when in D. Once in D1, all parts are allocated and the vehicle is in the gate for assembly. Again, that is my understanding from what I have picked up on this wait!

Correct, D1 is where all parts have been assigned to your build and you are good to go. One thing to keep in mind this relates to parts necessary for the build, it does not include accessories (or at least it hasn't in the past) which is why you saw so many people get held up in JB for their soft top on a dual top order.

To set expectations, once you get to D1 it can take up to 30 days (some say up to 60) for it to hit the line and get built. After that you go through E (frame), F (paint), G (trim) -- these three are usually in quick succession as it is on the line, within a week these three steps are done, but usually it is quicker than that. Then on to I (inspection) this should go pretty quick, but if it fails inspection it can take a while (seen 3+ weeks) before they start over. Then you move to JB (body vendor -- typically where they add some accessories and things like decals) and then off to KZ where they schedule and ship your Jeep to your dealer!

Note: 1. I skipped a couple of statuses that are sort of one offs that don't show up often because they sort of happen quick and never register in the tracking (at least that I have seen). 2. KZ has a number of sort of 'sub' statuses like KZS (waiting for shipment, but in storage). 3. As far as I know if you are within 500 miles of Toledo you don't get your Jeep shipped on a train, it goes by truck which is usually faster.

Here is a good site that gives a lot of the status codes and what they mean: http://www.jeepfan.com/tech/chrysler-jeep-vehicle-order-codes/

Hope this helps!

Thank you, this is really helpful information! I have been in D1 for a while (3+ weeks). I ordered a JLUS on 3/6. What is considered an "accessory"? I ordered an 8spd, LSD, black hard top, painted fenders, trailer hitch, upgraded wheels, blk cloth interior, sting gray. My dealer says I am in D and has not heard of D1, Jeep chat says I am in D1.

I'm not 100% sure, but could it be the sting gray color?

As far as I know (and keep in mind this is from information gathered on this forum and other internet places, so I could be wrong -- I don't have any inside information) accessories are items that are not physically installed on your Jeep. For example the soft top that is part of the dual top group or the decals for Rubicons.

There is definitely a difference between D and D1 -- I am guessing your sales person just isn't aware for some reason. If I had to guess, your delay in D1 is your color since it is relatively new.

Maybe someone can point me to a thread where this is explained.

But my question begins like this:

I've ordered my JL (I haven't yet, but I'm days away). Do I now get a "key" to this marvelous website where I track my build?

If not, what DO I have?

And what are those codes I hear "D" status, etc.?

Thanks. I plead ignorance. Please educate me.
OK. Here it is. I communicated with Jeep Chat AND telephone rep. My dealer told me 9 days ago that my JL Sport order (w/VON and VIN#s) was in KZ status. Chat tells me today it is in D-1 status where parts are gathered prior to build- which is going backwards from KZ. Phone rep informs me that the current status is D-1 and has been since 10 days ago. The 'normal' time in D-1 status is about 15 days before achieving KZ status for shipping. Then add approx. additional two weeks for arrival. That's fine with me as my order was submitted on 12/22. Jeep Chat told me today that building of 2-doors will begin the middle of April. I'll go with the phone rep as he stated that there have been calls about misinformation from chat coming in to them. Happy Trails
