Lurking and stuck deciding between 2dr and 4dr (project), but transmission is non-negotiable, especially since towing bobcats is no longer required

Sure, auto is convenient in traffic, I've gotten stuck in NYC traffic more times than I can remember, but you're not always gonna be in traffic, so why let the computer have all the fun?

Hi folks, I saw this on the internet. It may be old but I’m sure everyone hasn’t seen it and this is the perfect place to post it.....It’s called “when you or your tattoo artist have never driven a stick” (notice the shift pattern)

I hear Chevy is not making the 2020 Stingray with an option for manual. Volkswagen are no longer making vehicles with sticks either

Is there going to be a point where Jeep drops the manual?

Day that happens is the day I stop looking at new cars all together

do you have a JL with manual transmission? If you do, please say so and maybe tell why you still like to drive with a stick.
I’m just curious how many of us are left. It was very difficult to find my JLU with Manual transmission. Most dealers said they would not carry them for stock, that it had to be ordered.
10 years ago was the same story with my FJ Cruiser.
I love to be in full control of the gears. I guess I like driving for the sake of driving. A car to me is much more than just a mean of transportation. Just like I love analog watches, and mechanical ones even more.
And by the way, I really like the JL transmission. I believe it is Japanese.
We are liking our 6 speed Punkn. It took awhile to break in, but now its a blast to drive.

Yes , the manual may be dropped only when all the Marxists will unite and force us on bicycles like Mao did in China but I doubt it will happen any time soon , Jeep without a stick would be like a black forest cake without the cherry or something like that : )

I just ordered a manual JLUR. Jeep chat said it was built yesterday. My second car was a manual 91 Chevy Corsica (horrendous clutch pedal)...but I loved it anyway. It was rear ended and totaled in 2004 and I haven't had a manual since. Getting a manual for the following reasons:
Wife actually wants to learn
More fun
Aisin quality
Less trust in FCA auto quality
Live on a mountain and get a decent amount of snow
Cheaper and easier repair if necessary
Potential theft deterrent when you have no doors or roof

I just hope I don't embarrass myself by stalling as I drive off the lot after 15 years of autos...

I went 17 years without a stick before I got my JLU. It came back to me very quickly.

If you do stall just pretend it is ESS.

Drove stick all my life but took a 4yr hiatus with a 2dr auto JK. Now I’m back in the saddle 6sp manual and zero regrets. The sales guy was surprised that I requested specifically.
