First let me explain the name of my Rubicon. I've never named my vehicles, I've haven't had too many I love like I do my Jeep. So one day when my family and I were out off-roading with a friend, my wife was very impressed with the capabilities, stock at the time. She told me I should name it 'The Beast'. When asked why, she simply replied "because it just GOES!". Shortly after I purchased my Jeep but before it was named, my wife got a new Black Expedition and named it 'Black Beauty' so when she named my Jeep, it was also kind of funny...Black Beauty and The Beast.

I wanted to add a little unique touch to my Jeep and wasn’t yet ready to start with purchasing mods. I removed the grill, completely disassembled it and painted it with red and black Plastidip. It was my first experience with Plastidip and I was impressed with how even it dries and the final result.

Rough Country 2.5" Budget Boost

I chose to go with the Rough Country 2.5" Budget Boost lift kit. I don't do a bunch of rock crawling and heavy flexing so this kit worked within my 'budget' for now so that I could get the additional items I wanted at this time. The install went fine with the exception of some of the same things others experienced (poor instructions). I have not yet taken it off-road so I have nothing to report there but on road handling so far seems fine, little rougher. I did not disconnect the drive shaft and did not have to use a spring compressor. Was able to knock out the rear on my own and then the front with the help of a friend. Used two jack stands, floor jack and the scissor lift supplied with the JL.

Funny I had a Mustang and it was “Black Beauty”.
