Haha, thanks. Install took about 4 hours, and about 45min of that was spent fighting with one of those damn square nuts to attach the winch
Wow, did the winch come with square nuts? If that’s the case I should bust my box open and go get some replacements ahead of time.

It was a combination of the bolts and the way the ARB stubby is designed. The bolts are cut flat on the end instead of having a short unthreaded section to help it get started. To make it worse, the bottom of the bumper is angled in such a way that you can't really push upwards as your trying to start the bolt into the nut. Eventually I took another nut I had laying around and used it inside the socket as a spacer so I could push upwards and get the last one started.

Did you also buy CavFab’s lower skid plate or go a different route. I’m really liking this bumper for that minimalist look.

I don't have this bumper. I don't even have a JL yet. :) I'm building a list of parts for a '23 JL. The Cavfab bumper is a possibility, but I may make my own bumper, TJ style. Very minimalist. Similar to this, but without the boxed ends. Should be fairly easy to make from a piece of channel iron. I'm not sure why a company doesn't offer something like this. (Quadratec's YJL)

I'd bolt it to the Jeep through the face of the bumper using these, to keep overhang to a minimum :

How are people mounting lights to bull bars? Is there some wrap around mount or are they all drilled in? I'm considering the fabfours stubby but it doesn't have any light holes on it... Picking out a front bumper sucks.

Man, I've been researching front bumper's, specifically a stubby style for about 4 weeks now. I just can't pull the trigger, I have the funds to do it, I am also patient, I can wait 2 months or so for delivery on some brands, but the pricing is just insane. I'm in Canada, even a factory Mopar, Rubicon steel front bumper retails for $1300 CDN here. I am just trying to find a nice looking, powder coated, front bumper that's a stubby for $600-800 CDN. Man is it difficult, what's available is either not my taste or just not what I'm looking for. I guess I will make another coffee and go through the wormhole of browsing again lmao. I never thought I would be this hung up on a front bumper before.

I know the feeling ive been looking at stuff so much I made a build sheet and then started narrowing it down to off & on road usage ( step, no step ,angeled up/down not at all ) lol

I fell in love with the ACE engineering stubby, with bull bar. Fog lights check. Bar check. Winch sitting low enough to allow some air flow check. Approach angle and looks check. $1500 USD + shipping, womp womp. I know it's pay to play, I get it, don't complain if you don't want to pay $ but yeah, it's steep. Who knows, maybe I will get some courage and just send it haha. Anyways, glad i'm not the only one in the same boat, I will continue to search on!

I am the same way. It’s got to be the way you like it.
I went with Rugged Ridge 11540.32 HD Stubby with 11540.61 HD X-Striker Grill Guard & 18003.61 Skid Plate.
My only complaint was the tight fit of the winch. The bumper itself no issues. Should be in the ballpark of your budget.
Good luck.

Just placed my ordered with CavFab for their Rampage bumper & universal crash bar skid plate. Super pumped to ditch the oem plastic bumper on my Rubicon.

I’ll update with pics once painted & installed.

There's an aluminum bumper thread in the Pictures forum

I just ordered the LOD Destroyer stubby, it was on sale at quadratec. Does it have holes for mounting lights?

I got that + skid plate + smittybilt x20 comp 10k winch for 1200

edit: Cool there is an accessory bracket behind the bullbar
