Very interesting.. Though TFL admits they need a redo.

Not a chance. The aerodynamic efficiency of a bone stock Ram 1500 vs a lifted wrangler are light-years apart. Add to that the rolling mass of 40s, the gearing of a wrangler diff and the near impossibility of that Ram highway number being accurate, you’ve got a recipe for low 20s in a lifted JLU on 37-40” tires. Still great compared to mid to low teens, but I’ll bet a serious stack no JLU 3.0 rolling 40s hits the high 20mpg’s without Jesus driving it downhill in a vacuum.if true then 40inch tires on a JLUR should be in high 20's easily, may not even need to regear thanks to all the low end twin scroll grunt.
Agree with everything you've said, but one more point to consider. The Wrangler JLU, at it's heaviest (4430lbs), is more than 300lbs lighter than a 2020 Ram 1500 at it's lightest (4798lbs). TFL wasn't driving the lightest Ram 1500 at all. It was probably closer to max weight of 5372lbs.Not a chance. Diesel engine and emissions nonsense are expected to add over 100 lbs to the current heaviest spec iirc. Add in the weight of steel bumpers, 37-40” tires, winch, lights, hi-lift, compressor, recovery gear, roof rack, snorkel, skid plates etc and you’ll wind up as close as makes no difference to a RWD 1500.Agree with everything you've said, but one more point to consider. IMO, the Wrangler is going to have the same or better MPG than the RAM 1500.
