80k people attended and 100ish arrests, so a 0.13% arrest rate roughly. How is this even news?
It is news because the police were overwhelmed. For each one arrested there were probably 10 times as many warnings. There were probably 50 times more that law enforcement never got to. It is news because the locals, wether it is Daytona, Myrtle Beach, or any other place is getting tired of the yearly crap. It is news because there is an officer in the hospital.

Video from last year. Not on my bucket list.

Ditto. To each their own, but it looks like an extrovert parade for peeps who just want to be seen...not a Jeep fest by any stretch. More importantly, I suspect the girl at 14:50 is having a good time with that phone...must be on vibrate!

Oh helllllll no! Just FF'd thru the video until something looked interesting/stupid enough to demand a few seconds of my attention.

The area Wrangler clubs started it, but it's a public beach and people just show up. It's a lovely mix of the weekday DUI locals and a shithead who's who commuting in from the Houston area. I accidentally went down there the same weekend a few years ago. It was a hell of a mess. It literally makes the news every year.

There's another event at Surfside beach that is supposed to be more family oriented / calm.

Or it was a fantastic weekend to go to Matagorda and avoid the whole mess.

Because Bolivar is basically just vacation homes, so they have to pull in police from all over the area to try and manage an unofficial event. So, 100 arrests is just an extreme tip of the iceberg of the troublemakers. They also had to airlift 8 people out.
All the more reason to avoid the 💩 show.

Oh, come on. This is not all that unusual, just Texas living up to being Texas. You should see how they behave when they leave Texas to visit some our western national parks. Bless their hearts.
That's only partially true. There's plenty of bad examples but plenty of Texans who aren't like that.

Besides, I've seen locals just as bad as anyone else.

There's good and bad everywhere you go.

Every Year. Target rich environment for the police. Nothing but tricks, marks, trick ass marks, mark ass tricks, skeeters, skanks, skig-scags, and scally-whops after hours.

Dang event isn't even organized or sponsored by anyone anymore.

seems like the angry bird grill and large rims are popular in the South. it must be the beachcomber look vs the rock crawler look..

I was at Hidden Falls Adventure Park this weekend! It would have been tempting to go drive on the beach had I known about it, but now I know to skedaddle once the Sun goes down if I ever do attend one.
Picking up my Jeep this week, hoping to find a group to go to Hidden Falls in the near future, probably easy to moderate trails. Don't want to scare the wife too bad the first time out.
