Terrific Aftermarket Fob I came across

I do agree the stock FOB is larger than it needs to be but these aftermarket ones just don’t look right to me, yes they are smaller but the pics I’ve seen they just look cheap. They do have a model S that I would go for but honestly I don’t carry keys attached to my FOB and I have a strip of 3M Super 88 tape that holds the key in and it’s been on the fob for almost two years and looks like I just put it on, I don’t carry change and I also carry a minimalist front pocket wallet and thats it besides a small pocket knife.

Got notice today that our new M Series fobs are in the mail; should arrive next Wednesday. We won't be home to get them because we leave for Moab Monday. I am tempted to wait!

Received, and the size difference is impressive. It functions as expected and is a clean solution. The most time consuming part was removing my RFID which I’m going to assume was one of the more stubborn ones. Even with that, it took me about 15 mins from start to finish.

The one thing is that I don’t seem to have the micro key holder... I hope I didn’t miss it in the packaging and accidentally throw it away.

My main concern was how it would fit in my hitch safe. As you can see below, there is a lot more room to work with now.

Got my Threedom fob case & key adapter today. Went with the most plain version to stay in the spirit of my zero-option JLU Sport. Getting the RFID chip out of the original was the most difficult step in swapping over the fob guts - the QR-linked tutorial video was helpful. Here’s another pic of Threedom fob case compared to the factory fob:

I predict, that very soon, we will see posts here by guys that buy these fobs and then come here saying that they have Plasti-dipped the fob..

Guys that work outside in the elements... that hunt, fish or whatever will waterproof the fob with Plasti-dip..

Battery change times are not that frequent and when those times come, the Plasti-dip can be peeled off and the and the after battery change, easily reapplied.

That's what I did for my EZ-Pass .... not for waterproofing but to make it black.

To Plasti dip one of these DI Labs fobs would be easy... Wouldn't want to do that with a stock JL/JT fob..
