I'm opening this thread to post my progress as I take a stock JL through the steps of installing an ST3 kit for the 4 door.

I'll be running Dana 4.88 gears with 37" STT Pro's on KMC RG Race Beadlocks. The pics below are directly after I sold the factory wheels and tires. I threw a 37 on the front just for the fun of it.

I've always been a big fan of Teraflex equipment and I'm anxiously waiting the long arm conversion for this kit. We'll see what Q3 brings this year, maybe even before that; after EJS.

Thank you.

I spent about 5 hours today working on the lift so far. I went through and inventoried and inspected all the parts. Everything was there except for a missing front track bar bracket. I called Teraflex and they said there were a few kits out there without the trackbar bracket in them. I didn’t really mind, but they’re shipping me one. Everything else was packaged well and the instructions have been spot on except for a couple spots where the bolt head size was different than called out.

Otherwise, everything has lined up and the system has come together really well.

My advice so far, READ all the instructions in detail first; understand the project in front of you before you take anything apart.

The drop brackets are actually quite nice. I was a little skeptical of them, but they don’t seem like they’re going to get in the way too much if at all. It’d be hard to drag it on a rock running a 37 if you pick a decent line.

The front is done for now. Final torque will come later. Here’s some pics. If you want to see anything specific, just ask. Thank you.

No, there isn't. I would imagine trackbars will be coming soon.

The front bracket is all that's needed for this one right now. Some fine tuning of the kit will be done when they release their trackbars.

I spent about 5 more hours or so today finishing up things.

Got the lift finished and torqued up.

Next was the MOPAR over size tire carrier and then the fantastic process of torquing beadlocks.

The lift itself had a few items in the instructions that need to be cleaned up. I’m going to red line the instructions and send them in. The biggest PIA for me during this process was spreading open the factory front brake line brackets. I don’t know what they’re made of, but they’re strong. I ended up taking a Dremel and cutting through half the material on the curved portion holding the line. Once I did that, I was able to take a pet bar and twist it open.

Everything else went super smooth.

What I found really nice is that there’s no alignment needed and the Jeep drove and tracked down the road perfect. I couldn’t believe it. I had to straighten the steering wheel, of course, but I was impressed.

Even running stock gears, for now, the 6 speed is very driveable with 37’s. However, I’ve got Dana 4.88’s sitting here waiting for my next day off.

Here’s some more pics.

Nice job! Looks great. Do you feel this lift and tire combo handles on par with stock? I’m looking at doing a similar package.

I’m new to jeeps and lifts so I don’t want to degrade the on road manners too bad.

What’s your plan for the fenders?

Last question... does this install require a lift? I’m mechanically inclined but don’t have a lift I’m debating paying for this kit to be installed.

Thanks!

I've only had this installed now for a very short period of time, however, right away I commented on the way it drives. The steering is just as good as stock and there's zero body roll with normal to slightly spirited driving.

If you go with this kit, you wouldn't be disappointed at all. You don't need to do an alignment. Just straighten the steering wheel and program in the taller tire and that's it. It drives straight at 80 mph. No complaints.

I don't have a plan for the fenders. I can stuff these 37's in the Rubicon fenders. They won't rub enough to cause me any heartache. I will, however, need to take a heat gun and form the rear fender liner. Otherwise, the stock fenders will stay on until I rip them off somehow.

You don't need a lift to do this install. I have the MX-6 lift here, but I still needed the Jeep low enough to run the floor jack up and down to relieve pressure and to line components back up. Jack stands and a floor jack is all you need.

I have the same lift. I can’t say enough good things about the ride and handling with this kit. Great post and good looking Rubi Shawn!

So Chevy & JLRoach any updates on the ride, now that it has been a little longer on them?

I am looking at either the ST3 or ST2 lift (but may look at the CT kit as well).... would either of you change anything on the kit (such as get the 3.3 shocks?). I will be driving west next week and plan to stop in a The TeraFlex shop in Utah and hope to get everything sorted out while I’m there.

Planning a 2.5-3.5” lift and 37’s on JLUR. Leaning towards 3.5” lift for a bit more clearance and travel, but it is a DD for now with a future as a trail toy later on.

There’s not anything I would change. The 3.5” kit works very well, rides, and drivers great. This kit was really to hold me over until the Long Arm gets released. Maybe one day I’ll switch over my 3.1’s and make them 3.3’s, but I have no complaints.
