Installed in less than 2 hours
Hardest part was finding a #8 torx … naturally the smallest one I had was a #9 … luckily my neighbor had one.
Very happy with the clean and simple look.

It's constructed of steel, so it's far stronger than the factory plastic carrier. More importantly, it's adjustable in both height and depth. It has 3 height positions to accommodate a range of tire diameters. The depth adjustment is to ensure that any tire width and wheel offset combo is properly pressed against the rubber support bumpers on the tailgate.

I had the same lack of a Torx 8 of any sort... I had to go buy one.

Definitely a dramatic improvement. As to the differences. moving the brake light to the middle of the spare is a pretty big difference, and there is a lot less extra material in the thing than what the stock one had. The increase in height was the critical part for mine, as we are putting 37s on, and we have the Rock Slide Engineering rear bumper that already has less clearance than the stock bumpers. We likely couldn't put anything larger than 37s even with the new carrier at the highest setting.
