Temporary Tailgate removal to transport some stuff

Just take the tire/weight off it and leave the tailgate swung open for the drive

....I’d tie it in place. If it’s not too far this could be the answer. I wouldn’t remove it, that could lead to alignment issues. That could get expensive quick.

It’s possible, but you’d have to really want to do it. The wiring will be a pain as you’d have to remove that from the tailgate. That’s a big pain. Then you would need to reinstall it all and get the gate lined back up. Lining it up isn’t impossible (the bodywork creases help a lot), but I bet this would all take a couple hours.

Better off renting a UHaul, if you ask me.
