My first Jeep was an '88 YJ with the 4.2L, 3 speed automatic and Carter Carb that I bought used in 1990. It was a pain the ass to keep running correctly and I finally sold it in 1996 and bought a 1 year old 1995 YJ with the 4.0L and 5 speed manual.

Nice! looks like my old girl, with the exception of a manual.

This may sound a bit odd, but I still miss the wipers parking in that position on a Wrangler (that's how they were on my '95 YJ, too). It just looks very Jeepy.

I briefly toyed with the idea of reproducing that aesthetic on my JLU, but decided not to do so.

My first Jeep was a 2001 TJ. 60th Anniversary edition. It lasted until 2020, I still miss her...

My first Jeep was a ‘91 Cherokee Laredo that my Dad passed along to me in ‘99 when I turned 16 and he got himself a TJ. In 2004 I bought the TJ from him and drove it until Dec 2019 when the original clutch finally seized up and the engine was dead. Decided to rebuild everything on the TJ instead of getting a new Jeep and after 2 years of work it turned out like this

I got to enjoy the new paint for 10 days when I got plowed into by a steel flat bed dually pickup and left it completely totaled. I was devastated to say the least but I wasn’t hurt and the insurance money was enough to get a new ‘22 JLUD which I love and reminds me of driving my original ‘91 Cherokee so kinda went full circle. Now just waiting to get it lifted :)

First Jeep I drove was my dad's willys 1956 M38A1 - korean war surplus that he restored. Fun memories working on it with him. First Jeep I owned was an XJ cherokee, followed by WJ and WK grand cherokees. Haven't owned one for 10 years or so but now waiting on a JLUR XR - supposedly going into production in the next few days but not holding my breath.

I purchased my first Jeep in 1974, for $600, when I was 14 years old. It was a 1961 CJ-5, with a 4 cyl engine, and all original drivetrain. I spent a summer going through the entire drivetrain, replacing all seals that leaked, and in tuning up the engine, rebuilding the carb, and in repairing body damage. My father and I painted it bright yellow, and spent countless weekends on backroads, teaching me to drive and the basics of four wheeling. I have owned a Jeep, or two, or three at all times in the 48 years since then since. :)

Good times, great memories. Would do it all over again.

My son had a GC with that black wire syndrome. One of the easiest fixes for a major problem I've done!😜
Bought it used off a large Chevy lot, black wire already poorly repaired a couple of times. No extra charge for the black wire spices, lol.

Already had a 4" lift with ugly wheels. Death wobble, no extra charge. That was fun to experience for the first time, on the freeway at about 75, lol.

I forget which transfer case it had in it, AWD with a low range. Limited slips in both axles. The thing wanted to go play offroad, just no room in the wheel wells without breaking out the saws all.

You think bumpers and stuff are expensive for the Wranglers, just price stuff for the Grand Cherokees, if you can even find it.

Guys, I was at my Mom’s and she was going through her basement and clearing out old stuff. She found a photo of my CJ7 I talked about in the OP. I didn’t think I had any photos. It’s actually a photo from the story in my OP where a friend and I got ourselves stuck in the mud. And a bonus? My dad, who passed away unexpectedly later that year, is also in the photo.

If there’s anything from the past that I don’t have and would like to get back, it’s these two right here.

1971 CJ5, Champagne white, black leather seats from a Grand Prix and a 2” Rancho lift. With the top off all summer those black seats were murder wearing shorts.

1972 I paid $500 for a '49 Willys Wagon. Flathead mill, three on the floor. Ran it all over southern AZ while I was an undergrad at UA. When we had our first child, I drove my wife to the hospital in it...had to lift her into the thing. Here's a
