I love the doors with the "window" all the way down. That's the same I had on my '65. A pain in the butt to keep clean but it was a great look.
My first Jeep…59 CJ5, Buick 340 V8, 4 speed main box, 2 speed transfer case, Warn OD (that’s 4 shift levers!). Custom steering and more…I still miss this one!
A co-worker once mentioned she had never ridden in a Jeep, so I took her trail riding in the San Bernardino Mountains…yup, still married to that girl all these years later…did update the Jeep, though!
I sold my 2006 TJ for parts to keep modifying the JL. It was one of the dumbest decisions I ever made, and that’s saying a lot. My wife, who loved the TJ, urged me not to sell it — and she reminds me of that on a regular basis. I’d buy it back in a blink.I had been interested in Jeeps for quite a while, and a few of my friends had them when I was in the Navy. They were mostly YJ's.
After getting out of the Navy I got hired into my new career. At about the same time, Jeep released details of the new TJ. Jeep had fixed everything I didn't like about the YJ (square headlights, leaf spring rear suspension, windshield wipers always up on the windshield, really basic dash), and I knew I had to have one.
I special ordered my '97 at the end of '96. It took 6 months to come in. I loved that thing. I didn't do any significant off-roading...pretty tame stuff. We did go to Camp Jeep in Branson, MO in 2000. I kept it for 14 years. A couple of short years after trading it, I started craving another Wrangler.
