@Jondrew

You used the term "original setting"..... What I was trying to get across was say you select tire size 34.50 with the programmer and have been running with that.. now you unmarry.

When you re-marry, you just want to go back and check that, that tire size you were using and your other settings and feature choices are the way you want them. IF they are not it takes a brief moment to re-do a setting. This is easy and no big deal at all. 8-)

I keep a piece of paper with all my feature selections, settings listed for quick reference. I actually print out the firmware instructions and hand print my choices/settings on there for easy access.

Is it essential that you "unmarry" the Tazer before bringing your Jeep in for service? I recall when I had the AEV Procal on my JK it said in the documentation that it was unnecessary to unmarry it. In fact, dealer flashed my JK without me knowing it and my Procal and settings were fine. Is the Tazer not the same type of thing?

I believe it is necessary as the SGW module will have to be removed, I personally wouldn’t want the dealer to see my Tazer hanging from the OBDII port or see that gateway bypass hanging there especially if you were having electrical issues and honesty I’m not sure what would happen if they reflashed the system with it married as in I’m sure it would overwrite the Tazer settings but then could you remarry it to the Jeep since it was already married

ProCal... yup got one on a JK. With the Jl, you have to incorporate a bypass module. ProCal does not.

From what I have heard the dealer's Wytech tool cannot lets say talk to the JL if the gateway is not in the mix. With the Tazer JL and the Flashcal, the gateway is disconnected.

I have left my Tazer plugged in for every dealer service appointment that I have had with the exception of having the cruise control recall done, as that would directly affect it. Have had no issues.

From what it sounds like, it's a risk to leave it when you go in for service. There's typically no reason to flash your vehicle for an oil change, but if they show there's an update available and they have your vehicle in for an oil change etc, they may just flash it and then there goes your Tazer.

Yes, you go in just for an oil change, ( you go to the waiting, etc.) and the Service Writer see's there is an update that is due and the dealership can make $ on their doing it, .... so, they go to do a pcm flash, to do that update, and they cannot get it done... Now, they think you have a issue cause they can't program and .........

Yup, takes but a minute to unmarry and another 2 minutes to disconnect the bypass module and plug the two cables into the gateway...

Why would you not do this.... just makes a lot of sense to do so, and can prevent you from having lets say a circus on your hands.

So you think the dealership will steal my programmer simply for plugging it into my personal property? This is America.

I will unplug it if it is absolutely required, as I have before, but I do not want services performed that I did not request.

No, I don't think they'd steal it. When I said "there goes your Tazer", I meant it would be bricked and unusable because they overwrote the programming.

That's not a real thing.

Ok, I'm willing to admit that I really don't know with today's vehicles and the tazer. However, that was my experience years ago with a DiabloSport Predator tuner on an SVT Focus I had. I realize the Tazer isn't loading a tune onto the PCM so maybe my point of reference is off.

Hey @Rhinebeck01, when we were talking earlier I forgot to ask you something. If I leave my lockers wired to my aux switches ( if it works better) then will tazer still clear dash codes? I’m going to see how tazer works with lockers before I decide which way I’ll access them.
Thanks

Not sure if I'm following you and then I still probably wouldn't know. 8-)

I do know that the Tazer JL will clear CEL's in general.

You and a handful of guys have the lockers wired to Aux.

Would be a positive thing, if you could post the answer to the question you just asked me after you know the answer.

I'm sure other's with a setup as yours would like to have an answer on this.

So, look forward to your post on this, later in the week, when you have your Mini installed.

Copy that. When your lockers wired the way I did it , it’s a 2 wire harness hot and ground, bypass the computer. Factory harness is four wire I think one talks to computer and the other is for lockers switch. So when I start the ignition a ( service axle locker ) comes on then goes away and a little chassis icon stays on over fuel gage, not a big deal for me but the wife, you know, afraid the axles going to fall out or something, lol.
