Tax time, need ball joint install pricing in the SoCal area

I was going to tackle these ball joints myself, but after getting a few bucks back on my taxes I might let someone else do the work if the price is right. Anyone have joints installed lately? If so, where did you go and how much was labor?

I’m getting mine done at Disciple Off-road. I’m having them do the re-gear, axel shafts, steering knuckles and ball joints. Definitely a bit on the premium side but “good work ain’t cheap and cheap work ain’t good.”

I’ve talked to Gus on several occasions, but I can’t see spending 600 on installation. If that’s the case I’ll be doing them myself

It's really not bad getting them in. Harbor Freight ball joint kit and stick the new ball joints in the freezer the night before.

Ha and I thought $650 was cheap. The shops in my area all told me $1200 just for ball joint install.

That’s ridiculous for a couple hours of labor. I was looking forward to some 300 dollar estimates but it’s cheaper to let the wheels fall off and just replace em then

Goes to show how much I take mine in. Last time I paid hourly rates it was 75-85 an hour.

Oof yeah maybe in cheaper cost of living areas of the country. In LA it's double that for sure.

Well considering the facts, last time I paid a shop to do anything was in 2006 for a transmission on a PT Cruiser that made 441whp/418wtq. I went through 3 transmissions in 42k miles. Go figure, the Dodge Caravan trans couldn’t take 400 horsepower

I’ll have to check my receipt pile but I did gears and ball joints for 1100 in labor if I remember correctly ( I provided all parts
