So I have a problem. I’m always finding solutions for problems that don’t exist. Or at least aren’t really problems to begin with. Now I’m looking at weight. This started a couple of days ago, looking at aluminum bumpers and fenders, wondering how the raw finish would look with my black 2 door. Which is still an option. Also, I’m tired of painting.
Currently, I have the Pritchett Canyon front and rear bumpers

I like the tube look but no spare cutout means spare tire relocation. Math says I’ve added 160 and 210 pounds front and rear respectively.
I’m looking at the Cavfab rear bumper fascia

15 pounds and I could go back to the stock tire carrier so I’d save at least 45-70 pounds depending on how I mount the spare.

For the front, I’m leaning towards the plain winch mount with d rings. Warm comes to mind

and it’s a lot cheaper than the Nemesis winch plate

It covers the frame for a more finished look but it costs as much as a full bumper. Warn is 1/4” and nemesis is 3/16. With d ring mounts and a crash universal bar skid, I’d save about 28 pounds.

A bare bones front winch bumper and rear bumper with great departure angle and I could lower the spare, making my rear window a little more useful. Either way, I’ll be taking off my current bumpers to clean up some of the surgery I’ve had to do and get them powder coated.
Just looking to get opinions. Thanks for looking.

Youd want to at least clear powder coat it.
True. But it wouldn’t be the end of the world to do it. Just trying to imagine something other than the black that I have on literally everything.

Also, being a welded piece of aluminum that has not been coated, it could likely have scratches and what not on it. they expect people to put on a finish on them and not leave them raw. You could do a nice brushed finish to the metal with some scotchbrite but it would be a lot of work without proper tools.
and raw aluminum scratches easily.

i like those tube bumpers at the top

I work in a machine shop. I have access to the proper tools. If it would fit, I have access to a bead blaster.

I like the bumpers, too. Just kinda looking for something when I take them off for real finishing

You could look at GenRight for aluminum bumpers. Pricey but looks great.
Genright, next venture, nemesis, evo. Al on the wish list. Basically any stubby front bumper.

Delete the spare mount for additional weight savings. Swap your jump seat for your spare when you’re wheeling.

True. And not really averse to it. That would save about 130 pounds during daily driving. But how do I even it out in the front?

I would highly recommend steel bumpers and ditch the idea of aluminum.
They’re intriguing but I’m not completely sold on them.
How about the rear fascia/front winch plate combo?

I had these for my JK and they held up extremely well. No winch plate needed for the front bumper. Also bumper comes in full width or stubby. I would have gone this route again if I didn’t get the steel bumper package. Didn’t like the Quadratec branding on them but they just peel off.

These are the ones I've been leaning towards as well.
