I have a TJ with fairly new 33" MTs (16" wheels) that I'd love to put on my JLU. And I would want to put my JLU ATs (17" wheels) on my TJ.

Has anyone swapped JL wheels/tires with TJ wheels/tires? I understand it can be done with the right spacers, but I don't know if it is a good idea. Thoughts?

Yeah the TJ should be 5x4.5 bolt pattern while the JLU is 5x5 bolt pattern. So you need adapters, not just spacers of course. But as far as backspacing goes, it should work out OK I think. The issue you'll likely run into is clearing the brakes on the JLU with 16" wheels. That may not work. Even my 17s are very tight.

Ah. Good point. Thanks!

I'm leaning toward leaving the tires where they are and replacing the JLU tires with the stock wheels or ones made for the JLU. I love the tires and wheels on my TJ, but I'm thinking it just isn't worth the risk.

I vote no. Adapters/spacers
