I really don't understand this logic. If a dealer finds a customer that will pay a certain price why is it considered greed? A seller and buyer create a market. If you asked for more money to do your job and they gave it to you would that be considered greed on your part? Or would they be paying you what you're worth? Just my opinion of course.
Well said. We all claim we embrace capitalism until we get on the wrong side of the supply/demand equation. Then...suddenly...the other party is greedy. If purchasers are willing/able to pay a premium for an item in short supply, more power to them.

I don't even know that I consider it greedy. That dealer might not actually want to sell it. Totally possible he's fine driving it for a year until stock replenishes and putting it on his used lot. Dealers do that all the time.

It's less greed and more that he's a real jeeper that really wants his 392. But he's also not dumb, and if someone wants to give him $90K-100K for a used 392, he would be willing to give it up for that price. Now if they had 2 sitting on the lot not being used both listed for $100K, well that might be more of trying to be greedy. But I really view it more as the owner like his 392, and basically is saying he's only going to give it up for what is essentially silly money.
Yes this is likely. He bought the car because he wants to drive it, just listed it at the price where he's willing to not drive it. Every car I have ever owned is always for sale, at the right price. Same goes for my 392 if anybody is interested. However, like this dealer, the car is worth more to me than I paid.

Nobody is making these people complaining of ADM pricing purchase said vehicles. I agree with your post. It's called capitalism. How many that abhor ADM pricing would turn down like offers for their vehicles? None.

As an aside, I find it comical that dealer-driven cars are advertised as "new" when ultimately sold. Their rationale: "I know that it has 10,000 miles, but it was never registered".

BTW, the premiums are not greed; they are textbook capitalism. It's absolutely no different than when the law of supply/demand goes the other way and we enjoy pricing below invoice.

Hey...we all loudly professed that we wanted to avoid socialism as a society (and, I agree). Well, this is certainly not socialism. We should be happy.
100% agree. It is a specialty item we are talking about here. A product for pure entertainment. Nobody is forcing us to buy it, nobody here needs the thing.

I wish these LS swap shops would lower their prices so I wouldn't have to dump my rig to get a V8...75k is still cheaper than my 50k Jeep with a 35k LS swap.

The idea behind that is so the warranty doesn't start until 10k miles (atleast thats how it works with VW). Could aslo be a part of the reason why the dealer titled it and is selling as used. Not sure about other states but here in maryland "Demonstration Vehicles" cannot have more than 6k miles and be sold as new.

Guys are telling me that the 6.2 Hemi is only a 100,000 mile engine. That's a lot of cash for a short-lived machine. Buy an old TJ and drop a SBC350 in it for a faster, more reliable machine at 1/4 the price.
id love to see your version of a sbc350 in a 20 year old TJ that will be faster AND more reliable than a 2021 jeep 392.

I would add, that although it won't be the case with a crazy high demand car like the 392 (at least not anytime soon), in regular times, you can get some major savings over new with those dealer driven cars, with a full factory warranty that begins when you buy it in most cases.

I've done this I think maybe 3 times in the past 20 years or so. Always been impressed with how much we've saved.

Just food for thought. 🤷‍♂️

Simply removing the PCM makes it 10x more reliable. Most of today's Jeep 0problems are electrical or computer based. Send me a check for $25,000 and I'll build one for you.

Lol even if there was supply and demand, dealers are going to mark up it up to 100k regardless, I remember when lake elsinore jeep wanted to charge me $3k mark up to place a factory ordered JLUR lol.

Can you find a base model c8 corvette for MSRP? Dealers are marking it up especially because its new and its redesign

There is premium on the top models too. I have been seeing stock Rubicon models listed for 74K and 69k in my area. That’s nuts when you consider the build quality and dealership crap is not attractive.
