Sun shade for JL Wrangler

Got my jtop today. Very nice product.

2 questions for those that have one.

1 - what is the rear metal part that goes across back of roll cage and what is proper placement?
2 - I watched the install video and didn't see them fold it back to allow soft top to clip to frame. I may assuming the nylon part that is tucked just gets folded back to the magnetic seam?

Anyone with mopar grab handles have a picture of how they routed the two front clips for the jtops? Not much room the way mine is setup.

I went cheap and bought the Rugged Ridge 13579.71 Eclipse Sun Shade for $70. As soon as this monsoon season on east coast gets over I will install and report. I went with this one because I am waiting for someone to release a bikini top that's waterproof and dint wanted to pay $150+ for a non waterproof shade. Hopefully this product turns out to be ok for its price.

It finally arrived! I imediately took the top off and get it installed.. It's not 100% perfect but it's pretty sweet IMO.

First I'll say that the packaging is good. I expected this to be folded up but there are rigid components to the JTop.

Each buckle has a strip of neoprene under it to prevent the buckles from scratching the paint. It's a nice touch that seems to work well. There is also a smaller buckle on the inboard side of each strap to hold the excess strap material, keeping it out of the way.

However, be careful with the neoprene. I'm not sure if this was a defect or if I screwed up. The pad is just being held on by the outer layer of fabric. This doesn't hurt functionality because the pressure of the strap is holding it in place once the buckle is fastened. I'm not planning to return it.

As you've seen with others and you can see here, the fit is absolutely perfect. This is a VERY well made product.

PROS: super tight fit that looks fantastic. It is also a well made product.

CONS: Expensive and it took 1 month and 1 day to get it after ordering.

I really like how this shade goes all the way to the front. I have the Alien Sunshade and I'm thinking about tossing it for something else. The gap between the windshield and the front of the shade is pretty large and all four of my windshield clips broke within a week.

Are you hard top or soft? I'm using my soft top and I need a gap in the shade to access the soft top front latches. For the record, my Alien clips have been fine for two weeks now with contast tugging on the front area when I latch/unlatch my soft top.

I know this whole copy cat thing about the Alien Shade with JTops, but I have yet to find any other shade that is 2 piece (no flapping at all) that uses the bungees (easy on/off). That's all I am going to say. I'll buy American all day long, but when no one is putting out a similar product, you have to go with what works for you.

The very front of the JTop is tucked into a gap along the windshield. It can be easily pulled back so you can access your latches. The Freedom tops for the Hardtop also have latches that you need access to, so the pull back is rather useful..

Spiderweb shade is very similar and uses bungees - I have a brand new JLU tan shade for sale if your interested - went with a different color - shoot me a PM if interested.

JTops titanium for JLU . Was expensive but installed easily and seems to work quite well. JTops was great to order from as well. Had to do over the phone since in Canada but was quick and easy. Sorry for bad pic.

I dont like the one piece with the hump showing so i went the Alien 2 piece shade. it has one for the front and 1 for the back it looks so much better without the hump over the sound bar. i will post pics when i get my JL back today or Monday. Its having the Mopar lift put on right now

My last communication wtih them was maybe 2 weeks ago and the rear shade was not released then, so maybe an update is in order?
