Question to all of the experienced members out there: On occasions, I want to remove the hard top for the day (it is parked outside). The one time I removed it with my sons, it wasn't fun to do this by hand. Systems like the TopLift Pro or the Smart Garage Hoist, while so easy to use, seems like overkill for the occasional use it would get (unless I found one for a GREAT price, lol). It would seem like a DYI hoist would be perfect but not sure. What system or strategy would members recommend, especially if they have the same usage requirements that I do. Thanks!!

The harken hoist is only $172. I have it and it works great. I only use it 1 time a year. When it’s time to put the soft top on. The hardtop sits up there for 6-7 months.

Thanks for the input! Would that be worth it for a couple times a year? Top would only come off for the day and then go back on at the end of the day.

I open it a couple times a day, close pulling back in the drive.

It’s a $172 insurance policy. It’s also so easy to use.
2nd this. DIY is fine but don't forget you are lifting a $3000 object and if you drop it, you can break it. At a certain point cheap solutions become very expensive solutions.

This makes sense, especially since my son's Shelby GT350 will be parked below it during the few hours the top will be off. If the hard top were to fall on it because I am being too cheap, well... 😢.
Ok, these responses have helped me out a lot. Thanks everyone!

Love my Harken Hoister, easy to lift and lower the top solo

Expensive does not ensure robust and reliable.
