In a bone headed move I grabbed the wrong bolts when installing the rough country tire carrier plate for larger wheels. I ended up stripping most of the threads going through the door.

I need some advice, I can add a nut on the interior and think keep or increase the strength, use expoxy to fix the threads or replace the door. The last being the most expensive.
Do you thinking adding a nut on the other side is safe ?

Disclaimer: I haven't really looked at the backside of the tailgate. But if you go the route with adding a nut, I would suggest adding some large diameter washers (fender washers) under the nut in order to spread the load across a larger surface area. Maybe even think about using some nylock nuts.
