I've ordered new wheels for my bone stock 2019 JLU Sport which currently has 245/75R17 Michelin M+S P-Metric tires on stock wheels. Tires are almost worn out, but ride is nice.

This is a street/Beach Jeep. It'll see sand and some gravel forest service roads. That's about it, but looking for a little taller and wider stance on the stock suspension.

New wheels are Mammoth 8, 17x9, -6mm offset for a wider stance.

I'm looking for a quality P Metric, standard load tire that will fit on the 9" wheel, highway tread or M+S if needed with a wide(r) footprint.

275/70R17 would be perfect, but I don't think there's a quality P Metric in that size.

285/70R17 shows the only (good) P Metric is the Cooper Discoverer AT3 4S. Concerned about handling in rain vs the Michelin, but they're highly rated.

255/75R17's are to narrow for the 9" wheel.

265/70R17 gets me Michelin Defender in P Metric which right now seems like the best compromise.

Any suggestions appreciated.

I’m confused by your requirements that they be P-metric, standard load, M+S ATs and retain good handling in the rain.

Normally I’d recommend BFG KO2s and be done, but the moment you go M+S, you are going to have to sacrifice “some” degree of on road handling.

In any event, this is a terrible time to buy tires. I’ve been trying to get 285/75R17 or 285/75R18 ATs for the past two months, but it is slim pickings out there.

Good luck.

E rated tires are unnecessarily heavy and stiff for a lightweight, street JLU. My F-150 runs OEM P-Metric. I've owned two 3/4 ton trucks that were properly equipped with E rated tires.

I guess if you're rock crawling and want the added sidewall durability, it makes sense. In this case, I'm looking for a cushy, stock feel. E rated tire won't provide that...at least in comparison to a similar P Metric.

They don't have to be M+S, or A/T....Hell, a good old highway tread in my sizes would be great....in P Metric!

You are looking for a bit of an odd duck. On most passenger cars and large SUV's larger diameter tires go hand in hand with larger diameter wheels to keep the sidewall short and handling good. Taller 70 and 75 series sidewalls, like the 275/70R17, cater more to the truck market where E load ratings are king.

I'd add these to the list of standard load 285/70R17's you're considering:
Yokohama Geolandar A/T G015
Nitto's Terra Grappler G2
BFGoodrich Trail-Terrain T/A

Thanks for your help guys. I just needed confirmation that I wasn't missing anything.

The 285/70R17 P Metric Cooper Discoverer AT3 4S is highly rated for wet traction, so maybe I'll go that way.

So far, these P-Metric Cooper Discoverer AT3 4S tires feel great. Look pretty good too.
