Really sorry that I’ve double posted this but feel like I’ll get more eyeballs and ears here.

My wrangler has now been in the shop for over a week and no progress. Already have a case with Jeep Cares.
Hoping someone has experienced this. Noise is random so of course it can’t be replicated and I’m told the video is not enough to identify

Thoughts?

The metal dust boot on your rear axle input yoke is contacting the differential housing. Ask me how I know.
Also, Jeep cares sucks.
Dealer made me replace the whole yoke because it went all the way through fiat corporate, they wanted documented proof of the problem so they could write a service notice. I told them to just cut the useless dust cover off and let me leave, they wouldn’t do it...got free factory aux switched out of the deal.
That said, all problems are gone now.
All of my stuff was under warranty.

today I learned Jeep has authorized the dealer to replace the transmission even though root cause of the noise has not been determined. Anything I should be worried about?

I got the same noise, in service now.

I’ll have them check that dust boot. Makes sense something else is loose. It drives fine, shifts fine.

Update:
The first trip resulted in an unable to duplicate, I took the Jeep back and drove another 1000 miles before it started again. This second time I was able to take the tech for a ride and duplicate the sound. Its hard to tell where it's coming from while driving it, but he was able to move around the Jeep and listen. The tough part is the sound would only start around 60mph, wind noise is pretty bad at 60. Luckily it continues until the jeep comes to a stop.
Both times this happened were after a long sustained drive at freeway speeds, this might be the trigger. I usually only drive a few miles a day, under 50mph.
After a couple days in the service department they replaced 689393980AA Pinion Oil Seal.
It's not making any more noise, and I'll be driving some freeway this weekend to see if it stays away.
Fingers crossed this fixed it.
Hi Alex,
We're happy to hear your dealer seems to have addressed this. Keeping our fingers crossed as well that this does not return and you can get back to loving your Jeep! If it does return, please let us know so we can assist with your next dealer visit.
