At 616 pages, it's not exactly the quickest read around and I will have to admit, I was quite glad that I could skip over some of the stuff since it did not apply to the JL "Sport" that I ordered. But, there are some things that I stumbled across that were a bit surprising.
  • The removable doors are only to be used off-road
  • The folding windshield is a structural member and should not be used at speeds exceeding 10 mph
  • You should not remove the key from the ignition when the vehicle is moving -- this is probably an error in the manual though
  • You should not fold up or down the soft top if the temperature is below 41F
  • If you open up the windows or door when there is water on the roof, it could result in water coming inside the vehicle. So, since they put it in the manual, they are saying that people can't complain about their roof leaking onto the seat or floorboard since it "works as designed". LMAO...
  • There is a mode called "Party Mode" that allows the doors to be open without the lights to be on so that you can play the radio without running down the battery as much.
There's probably more and I'll include them as I stumble across them. Anyone else found anything "interesting" in the manual?

There's a lot of pages on removing the soft tops and I'm glad that I was able to ignore those sections.

Unfortunately my time is devoted to books about certs and finishing my degree. I will keep an eye on this though, I would like to see what people find!

Also when reading your comment about removable doors used during off road... I visualized someone getting stuck, taking doors off and jamming them under their tires to get some traction! :like:

That would be a pretty expensive version of traction aid... :(

How do you activate party mode? Will there be cake? Do I have to buy a DOT-approved party hat? Is there a compartment designed to house balloons and confetti? Can we buy 99¢ store ones or does it only take Mopar brand balloons and confetti?

Seriously though, this would come in clutch at a drive-in theater.

I recently visited a drive-in while visiting my wife’s family in the Midwest. Party mode is a nice feature, just dial the interior light wheel all the way down till the interior lights shut off. But, when in ACC the power turns off after 30 minutes. This was lame when bundled up in the back of the Jeep with the top off and tailgate open. Had to get out and walk around to turn it back on. That feature would really kill any party you’re having, need to be able to turn off the 30 minute timer.

Thanks for sharing. The 30-minute timer is a bummer.

30 minutes is about 28 minutes longer than I need for any parties in the backseat. :like::giggle:

RE "the removable doors are only to be removed off road," how would one do that? Unless someone has a home at a trailhead, most people would have to leave their doors at home, then drive through town and/or highways to trails. Is that just some legal protection verbiage, so that when someone gets t-boned and tries to sue FCA because there wasn't adequate side protection, FCA can point to the manual?

BTW, I'm assuming it's legal to drive without the doors on in all U.S. states. Anyone know for sure?

No law against doors being off but there is a law you can’t remove your side mirrrors. That’s the reason to get a ticket, not the door.
