On the 4XE I found that if I idle too long, the Jeep completely turns off and sometimes I want it to stay on.

I read somewhere that if the doors are removed, the 4XE will not auto turn off.

Im thinking that if I can wire in a double pole single throw switch (or relay) to break the connection on the wires associated with pins 17 & 18 on the door harness I should be able to stop it from auto shutting off by flipping a switch.

Has anyone tried something like this? Would pins 17 & 18 be enough? Would doing one door be good enough? Or would I need to do both?

Thread where I got the info for specific pins on the harness:

I don't see on the diagram where Ajar sense is going to get 12V if the door is umplugged (XY600A unplugged). As is described in the narrative. Looks more like it would see nothing.

The thought is if the door is removed, all the circuits are open. If I put the correct wires on a switch or relay, I can mimic the door being removed.

Yes, understood.

If you look at pin 17, "door lock switch return driver" it's in both your lock switch circuit and the door ajar switch circuit. That splice is inside the door. If you switch that before the splice, you loose your door lock switch. Looks like the door lock switch is voltage monitored like the ajar switch.

Specifically in the driver door, there is redundant ajar switch sense on pins on pins 6 and 18. (Single ajar circuits on the passenger and rear.

One challenge in deciphering is that all of these circuits come from the BCM, they aren't necessarily B+ to ground.

It appears windows are isolated from the BCM, so those may not be impacted. Not sure if you'll lose BSM, the feed for the indicators is coming from the sensors in the tail lights.

I don't have my Jeep with me. Are there any switches in the rear doors? Not showing on the diagram, and those would be the easiest ones to manipulate circuit wise.

Just move the shifter over to manual mode. The engine will stay running.

OP isn't talking about auto start/stop (or our equivalent). If you leave your Jeep running in park, it automatically turns off after 30 mins.

If you bought a 4XE, it’s all about the environment and saving gas and the planet. Why would you want to disable ? everybody has to do their part to save the planet. Don’t be a hypocrite

Not to feed the troll, but the 4xe can be running and Park in electric mode. This issue is that after 30 minutes it automatically turns off.

Not that it matters why OP wants to do it, it's nice to be able to do with the dogs in the Jeep when it's warm to keep some climate control available, or if they want to listen to some tunes.

There are other reasons to consider the 4xe, especially when we picked ours up. The 4xe upgrade was basically free and comes with significant power benefits compared to the base engine options.

yes, I know what the issue is. It turns off after 30 minutes to save energy and the environment. We just got a lecture in California about getting rid of drive-through windows because of all the idling and how it’s killing the environment. The 4XE is designed for optimum efficiency. You should not tamper with it and disable it. That would be hypocritical. Same with your remote start. Having your vehicle run sitting in an empty parking lot just so it could be a little more comfortable when you get in is not helping the environment. Practice what you preach.

I'm not sure what preaching you have read from me, and I certainly wouldn't allow my state government to lecture me.

I'd assume the timer would be shorter than 30 minutes if it was actually for idle concerns. More likely it's to keep the driver from accidentally leaving the vehicle on since it can be silent in park.

You sound triggered. I must’ve touched a nerve. Remember you quoted me first and came after me if it doesn’t apply to you what are you worried about?

Good point- Tesla’s have a “dog mode” to keep the temp system working when parked.
