There are many threads covering the plethora of mods for the JL, even one or two that mention the offroading adventures with stock JLs, but nothing that touches on those who plan on keeping their JL essentially stock. Now I've done some mild additions (backup lights, dash cams, locking hood latches, and the like) but I don't plan on changing wheels, tires, or bumpers. The reason I bought the Rubicon in the first place is that it had all the essential pieces I wanted off the lot. The Rubicon has more than enough capability for my off-road adventures, and enough reliability and comfort for the daily grind.

Maybe there's no thread because, who cares? I have yet to come across a thread titled What Didn't You Do To Your Jeep Today? Wouldn't that be a thrilling read? Ok... maybe not. I love my Jeep more than any other car I've owned. Each nick in the paint or the fenders tell a story. Taking the roof off for a midnight drive when it's 28 degrees out may call my sanity into question. I understand that for many the Wrangler is an easel on which to build YOUR Jeep, and that's great! But I sense an undercurrent of disdain for those who prefer to keep it as it is. Some go as far to say that stock Jeeps are for girls, and modded jeeps are for guys.

So... in this most renowned community of Jeep Wrangler aficionados, what say you? Those who mod their Wranglers, do you look upon us stock drivers with pity? When I pull pull up next to a heavily modded and lifted Jeep, is he not acknowledging me because my Jeep is stock? Is there a legion of stock Wrangler drivers with their unsung stories of adventures in the wild?

I pose this question not because of any insecurity, but I am curious. How many people out there love their Jeep just as they got it and plan to keep it that way?

My new wheels just arrived. :)
I like to personalize my vehicles, make them different than all the others, even if it is in the slightest way.

So far...
New Front Bumper, New halo LED headlights (With orange halo DRLS), stubby antenna, and now wheels.

I've added a brushguard, and will eventually upgrade tires when the factory ones wear out. Other than that I think I'm just going to stay stock.

A stock Sport will take me any place I want to go. I'm not a goat, so no rock crawling for me. I just love to be in nature on old dirt roads, Creek beds, forest service roads and the like. So for me, the stock Sport definitely suits my needs.

A lot of us buy the jeep as kind of a hobby and enjoy modifying it-like building a :"HOT ROD" --

If your worried about WARRANTY'S, then you have to be careful on the TYPE and EXTENT OF THE MOD--

Safety has to be the FIRST COINSIDERATION--

Aesthetics can be the majority of SELF-INSTALLED MODS-

Good luck

The only thing I have done to my Sport S so far is add a set of side steps and added a set of Rubi takeoff wheels and tires. I'm looking for a set Rubi Steel bumbers for the next mod.

I will continue to do cosmetic Mods, 1/2 doors for example, use Alien Sunshade on warmer days. Hardtop Hoist installed. I've taken it off road on 3 rated trails on a 5 point scale. Didn't have any issues.

So things I won't be doing despite the nagging of my 13 year old.
1. Winch (I have tow straps, give the next guy something to do)
2. Bigger Tires
3. Lift
4. Bumpers
5. Lights, I'm not afraid of the dark ...

Seriously, I'm off road, like many of you, about 6-8 times a year. I'll do fine as is.

Oh, and I will black out my Rubicon rims, the rims need to be black. I did paint my rock sliders cherry red. Like I said cosmetic mods.

Besides stuff like floormats, tint and PPF the most i would do on my sahara is different rims. No lift or overstated tires though. I will put a catch can on it as well, that is a must for any car IMO.

Never knew what a catch can was until I read this and looked it up. Very interesting!

I took off the intake manifold on my DD last year to drain all the oil out. Never put a cc on it. Probably poured 1 cup of oil out and it was nasty. Hurts performance, mileage and is just plain bad for the motor.

Is you google "mighty mouse catch cans" he sells one for the 3.6l. I have one of his cans on my LS1 and it works very well. A lot of cans have some blow-by, his do not.

for some reason I keep my vehicles longer when they are stock (go figure?), when I do a lot of modding I seem to loose interest in it or change the character, and once you start its hard to stop sometimes. :CWL::jk:
