Which is weird since that engine has been around for a while in the F150.
Turns out, reading through the threads on B6G, that while this is the impression Ford marketing gave during the Bronco launch, this is not the case. The Bronco engine underwent significant changes to the point that, apparently, the two engines are in fact quite different.

Interesting! Well, that would help explain what’s going on.

In case you guys still haven't heard, the 2.7 EcoBust has started blowing up for a number of Bronco owners. So far there are 25 confirmed cases in the Bronco6G forum community alone. They all blew up at 1,500 - 2,000 miles.

Repairs, once approved by Ford, are expected to take up to six months.

I kind of feel his pain being a very early JL owner myself. Some of the growing pains are painful.

Didnt have anything as bad as a blown engine, but still frustrating.

I could tell you, but then....

Hold on a second...you mean there were actually 25 Broncos on the road to begin with???!!! Ford has doubled their output then!

Bronco did pretty damn good. Seems like a jack of all trades
Anything with lockers and decent ground clearance will do well off road. Kevin is clearly a better driver than the others in that video, which helps. Clearly the steering is suspect, even when beefed up. The lockers help make up for carrying a tire so easily, but won’t help when someone with less skill carries some momentum into one of those massive weight transferring teeter-totter scenarios and rolls it.

Yeah. I think blown engines is up there in a class all by itself in terms of severe "growing pains."
