I know this topic has been beaten to death a thousand times but I couldnt find something specific to my issue so here goes...

I took delivery of my 2020 JLUR beginning of june and almost immediately started shopping for 35 inch tires after reading a lot here and seeing that a lot of people were using the stock wheels with no issues. the problem is that I like to be different (lol) and I purchased a set of Pirelli Scorpion All terrain plus tires in 315-70-17. The tires perform very well, they look awesome and my first crawling outing went very well. Peole were actually impressed by the tires and I might have created a few converts.

The problem is that I can't seem to get them balanced. My regular garage tried 3 times, a tire specialist tried one wheel and said no go. The place I bought them from said to go to another specialist which I did. So, this specialist tells me that altough he measured my stock wheel to be 8 inches wide and that the tire is supposed to fit 8-11 inches, he reached out to Pirelli and was told that this tire has had issues on 8 inch wheels because the sidewall doesnt seem to sit well and it looks like the tire is deformed when it rolls which creates the vibration issues that I get non stop above 90kph.

My question is this, I've read multiple posts and threads but no one seems to mention balancing issues. I'm new to the Jeep world and I want to make sure that it's not something to be expected if going with bigger tires ?

I originally wanted to go with Falken wildpeak 35x12.5x17 but changed my mind after reading about the Pirellis.

- Are there people here running the Falken 35 on a stock wheel with no issues whatsoever including the balancing ? Any other 35 inch tire people are running without any balancing issues ?

thanks in advance !

I ran 35s on stock wheels for 10k never had any balance issues, but I always had a little rubbing. Mostly the drivers front fender liner. At full articulation the tire would hit the shock. I ultimately gave in and bought wheels with +10mm offset and now I have zero rub. Good luck with stock wheels and 12.5 inch wide tires. IMHO 11.5 wide tire is as wide as I would go on stock wheels. And that’s for clearances not balance.

What tire brand and exact size were you running for that 10k period ?

Goodyear MTR 35x12.5-17. They are a big (true to size) 35 inch tire. I had rubbing on the Fox shock after the molar lift. Which I don’t recommend, but that’s a different conversation. I had 2 options, wheel spacers or different wheels.

I had the same issue with my 35X12.5's at first. I finally took it to an off-road shop instead of a tire shop, and they used balance beads which improved my ride dramatically. Not sure if this is a popular choice among the general population, but it has worked well for me for the last 5,000ish miles.

According to your post and the Perelli tech it doesn't sound like you have a balance issue. Sounds like the pulling of the sidewall into the 8" rim (which I believe factory wheels are 7.5") is causing a deformation which has the rolling vibration at speed as a side effect. Sounds like you're stuck with different tires or different rims.
You could try balance beads if the deformation is throwing it out of balance. The beads are a dynamic balance and will adjust inside your tire as the tire changes shape. That is IF it's going out of balance. Even if it's going out of round they might help. Might be a cheap fix to try.
